A dog's loyalty...

Post by Sothis »

If anyone was in doubt as to the loyalty of dogs, read this:

That is loyalty.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Reminds me of the statue of the dog outside Shibuya station in Tokyo.

Sad. :(

It reminds me of the dog whose statue can be found at a railway station in Japan. His master was a lecturer at a university which he travelled to by train every day. His dog would always go to the station when his train was due back, and greet his master as he returned.

One day however, the man did not return. He had died while at work. The dog, however, continued to come to the station platform at the time of that train pulling in every day, for several years until it died. During that time it became famous, people at the station would feed it, there were notices in the station informing people about the dog, etc.

When the dog died, a statue was commissioned and placed on a plinth right on the platform. You can still see the statue today.

Uhh....shouldn't they make a monument of a hero instead of a dog?? Or at least a dog that DID something?!

Why dont you shut the hell up? They are rewarding the dog's memory for the loyalty it showed.

(Slices off Jadelite's head, thus ending the conflict, because he dislikes anime too much to even want to fight in an anime-type battle.)

Then you need to take a trip to NYC's Central Park and visit the statue dedicated to Balto. (Yes, Balto was real.)

This dog did do something. He demonstrated the true meaning of loyalty.

Your ability to miss the point is awe-inspiring. Why do we revere soldiers who sacrifice their lives in a suicidal attempt to help their comrades? Because they accomplish something? In many cases, they don't; they just get killed. But they demonstrate courage and loyalty on a level that compels us to stand up and salute.

Saddening...truly.

On a lighter note (?), it's too bad a cat will probably never be memorialized like that....
