School starts at 7:35 for me, with Social studies, metal shop, lunch, contemporary issues, and then math with school ending 2:05; I don’t have the exact breakdown of the times handy. My schedule is the same every day.

Goddammit, the last thing I need is shit from people on this board of all places.

I tell people that I'm a physics major, and they look at me like there's something horribly and completely wrong with me. "Oh, you're a physics major? That's so sad; I'm sorry. There must be something seriously wrong with you. No one would ever choose that major of their own free will."

It was even worse last year when people asked me what class I was going to at 6:00pm, and I told them, "Modern Cosmology."

"You learn how to put on makeup?"

Argh. Then there's the people that think, "Oh, you're interested in astronomy? Can you tell me my horoscope?"

Anyway, I can keep the schedule without a problem. The only things that really bug me are my general education courses (Sociology and English Composition). They impede my physics time.

Hell, I just scored a perfect score (higher than anyone else taking that English Comp class, in any section) on a sample university writing exam, and they're still making me take it! Has it occurred to them that I might already know how to write academically, and that I've known for a long time how to do so?

Sociology I took just because I thought it would be an interesting forum to discuss problems and maybe have a few good debates. Three hundred-person lectures generally aren't the places for that kind of stuff. The recitation is okay, though. Lots of very cute girls take sociology, as well.

Physics is just basic mechanics with Calculus. I aced high school physics quite easily, and I pretty much learned a lot of the stuff from taking Calculus courses. So, I pretty much put the two together on my own time (this is what I do when I'm too bored to post here).

Calculus III I actually took this summer and failed it because I got too stressed and royally bombed on the final. I guess that's what happens when you try and cram a semester's worth of advanced math into two months of commuting to Chicago three days a week. This time around, however, it's fruit.

Frontiers in Physics is a hand-out required course that is basically there to give you some perspective about what you can do once you get a physics degree. All you do is show up.

I was a bit concerned about ya.

Yes, I can get concerned about people who I get into arguments with. It's
just that in my experience, trying to take on TOO much in too little
time usualy ends dismisally with very bad results.

Myself, a far less imposing schedule than last semester:

CTA 204 - Argument and Debate (Tuesday, Thursday)
IPE 201 - Intro to International Political Economy (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
PHYS 305 - Analytical Mechanics (Every Weekday)
MATH 495 - Intro to Topology (All the time)

The former two are baccalaureate core courses, while the latter two are far more interesting. Analytical will redefine almost all of classical mechanics in terms of systems of linear [differential] equations while Topology will simply rock.

Looks like it should total up to 75-85 hours a week time investment by the time the semester really gets going, so it should be extremely manageable.

There seems to be a general lack of respect for those that pursue the sciences at many schools.. Perhaps because of the deeper time & life investment that is required. I hear ya.

Practicality in university bureaucracy? Sadly, that can almost never be expected..

That'll do it. Multivariate is in-depth material and requires a great deal of time to process the material and let it become second nature. Going through the second time should help immensely.

Aw, come on. General education courses are the best!

I just got out of high school, and was a lazy bastard about registering for college, so for this first semester, all I'm taking is easy-as-hell general ed courses. And might I say, it's the best fucking schedule I've ever had.
Scratch that, last semester of senior year was the best schedule: AP French, AP Civics/AP Econ, English for fuckups, lunch, Teacher's Assistant.

But this one ain't bad either, and seeing as how Shep's schedule is actually easier than this one, I'm not ashamed of posting it:

MON:
4pm-7pm: American History through Reformation
(It's exactly like the AP US History class I passed in 11th grade, only a lot easier)

TUES:
1:30pm-3pm: Western Art, prehistory through Middle Ages
(this class sort of pisses me off, but it's easy as hell)
5pm-7pm: Basic Algebra
(After dropping out of Trig last year, I decided to take it easy with math. This class is a little overkill in the taking it easy department, but I'm not complaining)

WED:
7pm-10pm: English Composition
(my 800 verbal score on the SAT got me into this class, but it's still a very basic one. Once again, I'm not about to complain about things being too easy.)

THURS:
same as TUES

When I'm not at school, I'm working or having fun, and I cut it back to thirty hours of work a week for school. I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of spending cash a menial job can pull in if you bum food and shelter off of somebody else.

So, as is evident, I'm taking my life nice and slow. I've got a long life to live, and I want to have all the fun I can as a young man.
I'm going to cruise through college nice and slow, hang around Europe as a bum for a while, come back, get a job, get married, have kids, and die a mediocre man.

Or whatever. A plan is just a list of things that don't get done. They say it and it's true.
