Happy New Year

Post by Abacus »

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope everyone has a better year in 2017 than they did in 2016. To make this more than just a general HNY thread, I'll add the caveat that if you post, give the following info:

(1) What is one NY resolution you failed in the past?

(2) What is one NY resolution you succeeded at in the past?

(3) What is your latest resolution?

Me?

(1) Stop eating junk food.
(2) Finish writing one entire story before moving onto another.
(3) Read three hundred new books in 2017.

Bye bye 2016! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

Anyway, Happy New Year everyone!.

For resolutions:

1. Probably lots, but I'll guess finding a job is one I failed in the past.

2. I don't remember that many of my old resolutions, actually, so I'm blanking on this one.

3. I've got a number of them, but for now I'll say "Be more politically active."
"I know its easy to be defeatist here because nothing has seemingly reigned Trump in so far. But I will say this: every asshole succeeds until finally, they don't. Again, 18 months before he resigned, Nixon had a sky-high approval rating of 67%. Harvey Weinstein was winning Oscars until one day, he definitely wasn't."-John Oliver

Merry New Year people, Merry New Year.

As for resolutions
1) Stay out of trouble in school. Yeah, guess how long that one lasted?
2) Quit making NY resolutions, because they're BS and I'm going to break them anyway

3) Don't have one. I always have goals that I'm working towards, a new day, week, or year is just another step along the way.

Happy new year everyone.

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? 2016 sucked on a broad basis from personal to glacier mitigation. All 2017 metrics point to increasing standards of victory.

We Russians don't do resolutions, we do wishes.

Past year was brilliant and my plans have come closer to fruition.

Hope everyone on the board has a great 2017.

Likewise, to all. I have failed to be killed yet for another year, so it has started off right.

Bought a used SUV, packed everything up, and moved to Denver for 2000. Best thing I ever did for myself. Made the decision 9 months before that, but my lease wasn't up yet.

Stop drinking again, and live to be 40.

People make New Year's resolutions? Huh.

But I'm going to say this here. My family, the four of us, spent New Year's sitting on a park bench, overlooking Sydney Harbour, in a little clearing in some bushes, eating strawberries, and watching the 9pm fireworks*
