Sup?

Post by Surlethe »

Long time no see.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

Hi Surlethe!

By the way, I like what I think is your wife's blog - good stuff. She's a damn good writer.

Thanks! Good to see you too. Life is busy-busy -- kids, grad school, job hunting, Guilder to frame ... I'm swamped. How's your shit going?

Don't forget nascent alcoholism.
aerius wrote:Maybe he's finally discovered the Scantron.
God I wish. It's actually (turns out) more expensive to use Scantron than to use cheap labor to grade exams, especially in classes with thousands of students.

Thanks man! She knows what she's talking about and she's a much better writer than I am.

Isn't it just so incredibly depressing? Not gonna lie, it's a huge reason I'm looking hard at non-academic jobs.

This is very strange. All of the avatars and user info are on the wrong side of the screen.

Indeed. If I wasn't already a teetotaller, I'd probably be in an alcohol induced coma after major assignments.

Highlights include ongoing arguments about Robert Reagan, and an essay delivered in point form.

Jesus. My wife is doing a bunch of grading, too. No fun at all. Most of my grading is actually for a grad class, though, so it's tolerable. I just have to force myself to concentrate enough to see if my bullshit detector goes off, which is more tedious than painful.

Not looking forward to final (undergrad) exams, though.

You just have to perform a matrix transform which puts everything back in its place.
