Picking a mod for our group. Broomstick volunteered to mini-mod if needed, though it seems unlikely we'll have that many people.

It hardly seems necessary to say who I voted for :D

I'm actually curious why you aren't running, Ahriman238. This wouldn't be happening without you.

In no particular order: My moderating experience is nil and I'm actually pretty fuzzy on what the actual requirements and responsibilities are. I'm pretty busy in real life right now and may go several days, possibly a week without visiting the board. I'm still relatively junior on the board and there are generally more experienced and capable people willing to take up the role.

It appears that after a few days, EF and I are at some sort of tie.

I believe this dictates ritual combat as a tiebreaker.

Or you could share duties. Almost every subgroup on this board has two mods anyway in case one drops off the map.

Oh, cool. I did not know that was an option.

I'll happily share the job Gandalf.

Although if you do insist upon ritual combat, as the challenged party I demand we shoot pistols at dawn :D

As shall I. :)

Stupid combat loophole. I was hoping for after lunch Axis and Allies. :P

Since I'm half-blind and have no depth perception, you'd probably be safer shooting pistols against me :D

My hands quiver a lot. I couldn't hit the side of a barn unless I literally ran at it holding a bullet. :P

Then it really wouldn't settle things would it. Hmm.

Of course we could just be sensible and not have a ritual combat at all :D

So... going by the avatars, that's Gary Busey vs. a Dalek. Yes, I think that would be interesting....

Well between is it's a mess. I can't see the target but I can aim and fire, and Gandalf can see the target but can't pull the trigger.

SO, ritual combat tomorrow at dawn, spectator seats £10, food and drink available.

Both of you are group moderators with equal access to the usergroup and forum. Go ahead and begin adding people. Right now the group is hidden - let me know if that is what you want.

Thanks Dalton! One question though, where is the group? I can't seem to find it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

EDIT mark 2: I think I just demoted myself by accident. Oops.

Separate from the above issue, I've added Broomstick, Ahriman238, Zaune, Korto, KlavoHunter, JLTucker, loomer and madd0ct0r, basically everyone who posted in the group name thread. If I've missed anyone, or you think I've missed anyone, let me know either by posting or PM. I'll be around for the next 3 or 4 hours roughly.

EF, you changed your default group. I fixed it.

Oh thank you. I thought that might be what I'd done.

Since I'm getting asked this by people in PM's, how do newly-joined users find the subforum? It says it's under "Board Index" but I can't see it anywhere.

Scroll down to the bottom, it should be below the usual forums.

Nope, still no sign of it. How strange.

EDIT: This wouldn't be a problem with it being a hidden group would it?

Yeah, we all seem to do dumb shit early in the moderating. Just don't panic. The senior mods are quite helpful.

ETA: And I can see the forum!

Excellent. And yeah, it's a case of pressing a button that doesn't do what you think it does :D

Don't know either of them from a bar of soap, but cast a vote for Gandalf since Eternal Freedom had managed to pull one ahead, and we can't be having that, now, can we?
