I just discovered a nifty little feature. If you click the PM button on somebody's post you'll quote that post in your PM. Not sure how many people will find that useful, but it is a time saver for when it does come up.

What's even more useful is that you can send PMs to multiple recipients. Wilkens' job has suddenly gotten a lot easier.

Have a very nice day.

Braedley wrote:Thanks for bringing back MillenniumFalcon. Out of curiosity, how easy would it be to use the images from the original theme instead of the BlackSoul images? They just don't seem to... fit.
It wouldn't be difficult except for one small issue: there are a lot more icons in phpbb3 than there were in phpbb2, because the new version highlights whether you've participated in a post, and a few other things. If you look at an image directory from a version 2 theme and an image directory from a version 3 theme, there are a lot of extra images in the new version.

I could do it, but when I updated the icons for BlackSoul, that took a pretty long time (and there are still a couple of icons which aren't done, like the "report post" and "post details" ones). That's really something I'd rather not bother doing unless I have a lot of spare time at some point in the future, which is unlikely in the near term. Of course, that doesn't mean someone couldn't do it for me.

Here's the image directory for the old version 2 millenniumFalcon theme: http://bbs2.stardestroyer.net/tmp/Mille ... n2.tar.bz2

And here's the image directory for the modified version 3 BlackSoul theme: http://bbs2.stardestroyer.net/tmp/BlackSoul3.tar.bz2

So if anyone out there has a copy of gimp and some free time on their hands, feel free to go at it. I just can't make the time to do it myself right now.

Are you planning on putting the "We support Stofsk" message back up?

Eventually. The problem is not so much the message itself as the fact that I had to modify the software to give it the ability to post a headline on the front page. And there are a number of other modifications I have on my to-do list already.

I'm willing to attempt the icon update. Basically, what I need to know is if using the same file structure and names from BlackSoul is enough, or if there's something else that needs to be done.

Sweet, sweet Millennium Falcon theme! Thanks, Mike!

No, I really don't give a damn about a few buttons and icons here and there looking like Blacksoul ripoffs. The last few days reading the board with Subsilver has been a pain in the ass and I'm just glad things are back to as they should be! :D

If you do, could you have it say something different? I personally don't support him. I realize the case itself is weak and was a stretch evidence wise, and if he can beat it on that count good for him, but I have formed my own opinion on the matter and support is not it. There are other members that feel this way, but just decline to say so for whatever reason. Basically, "We" do not all support him.

With regards to images, I don't know if this is possible in phpBB, but on some of the vbulletin forums I'm on the software scales the image to the users resolution, with a bar ontop to click and enlarge. It won't fix load times, but it would stop formatting from being broken.

Upgrade to something newer. For fuck's sake, this isn't the board's beginning, when we had a moron named Kelly Antilles as mod of Artwork and Pictures, and she had a resolution of soemething like 800x600.

I tried posting some scanned memos from the National Archives right now in the history forum, and the software said "fuck you, 640 limit"; and screw resizig them for that limit (I already resized them once).

And what about those of us who run our browsers in small windows to make the text easier to read and facilitate multitasking? (Or those of us who can't afford upgrades even if we wanted them?)

Would it kill you to just post a (dressed) link to huge images?
And those of us using EEE PCs [1024*600]

Yeah, because that'll be so easy to read, especially for a nine page memorandum

*click*

*clicks back*

*clicks next on list.

and so on.

And for Eee PCS; so what? I can read SDN on my Palm TX PDA through wireless internetting; doesn't mean I should.

My point was that lots of people browse SDN from other devices so it's unreasonable to expect everyone to be browsing on a 1280*1024 or higher screen.

It's worked fine before. Things like that shouldn't be constricted, I like seeing them all on one page. Plus everyone puts up a tag like [56k DIE!!!] which also tells you that there are huge images in that thread. We have limits on huge images otherwise.

I like the new feature that stretches out individual posts so that we don't have to scroll for an eternity to read the word posts when the pictures stretch everything out. That would be more useful if we could actually use huge images in relevant threads.

It's only in AMP and maybe a few threads in other forums where we post huge images, anyway.

Yeah, but do you go browsing huge images on an iPhone? It's not like it's a great hurdle for you to scroll sideways to see one image or a post full of them. If it offends you so much, avoid the picture threads where this could be an issue.

Plus it doesn't stretch out the other posts in a thread, so it doesn't affect us as much as it did before.

The Senate vote was 34-3 for the exact wording we have now. So I wouldn't hold my breath.

Just FYI: people can stop bothering to dress their links now if they want. The software automatically breaks long links.

The reason I run on 1024*768 is because my monitor is too small for text to be readable at higher resolutions, the rest of the hardware is capable. I don't have enough money at the moment to buy a new monitor, especially since my current one doesn't have any problems.

That would be useful if it could be implemented.

The 56k die just shows that there are a lot of images there, meaning it will take a while to load if your on a slow connection (which I'm not). But I have seen threads with single format breaking images that don't get that warning, because the images aren't large enough to need it.

Or someone posting a single format breaking image along with the news article they are quoting.

Braedley has very helpfully made a set of MillenniumFalcon icons, which I just added to the board. If you have any feedback on the new icons, post it here.

PS. Regarding format-breaking wide images, one nice thing about the new system is that each post is a separate table now. This means that a format-breaking wide image only breaks the post which contains it, not the entire thread. Prior and subsequent posts in the same thread will be normal-width, even if the one post is forced to go ultra-wide.

PPS. I found the setting for the image size restriction and disabled it. People should be able to in-line pictures of any arbitrary size now. I agree that it was not a huge problem before, and the new behaviour mentioned above should reduce the negative impact on thread formatting even if someone does it.

JAWESOME! Many thanks, Braedley. I owe you a cubic fuckton of BJs for this. EPIC WIN indeed!

And Mike, you, of course, we all owe many thanks to for bending over backwards to get SDN back to exactly the way it's supposed to be :D
