Same here. I also just had to redo my login and I got a "too many login attempts on this account" warning.

Confirmed, it looks like a server issue, connects have never timed out for me (But I'm running Fiber) however loading the forums takes forever and nothing shows up even when I ping physically nearby Toronto servers. I'm guessing it's a root at the server issue that needs correct.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but pages are taking forever to load today. Getting strange results on a ping, too... duplicate packets!

It isn't just you; in fact the board has been slow for me the last few days.

I also was logged out when I opened my browser today (Firefox), and got the "too many log in attempts, send CAPTCHA" screen when I clicked on "Log In"..

This can't just be related to the purge...

Everything seems to be working fine now so whatever you guys did (or didn't do) fixed the problem.

We did nothing. Suspicion levels are running high.

Given the strange ping and traceroute results, I'd guess that somebody's network hardware down the line went wonky...

Agreed. Sriad's post suggests a DNS component to the problem as well. I'm still getting logged out on occasion, but I've already just executed a Cookie Monster maneuver to clear the problem. I'll keep you posted on any further logout incidents.

Mike says: ISP router issues. They did some work over the weekend.

Ah, that would do it. Also, I cannot stay logged in whatever combination of reboots, Cookie Monster maneuvers, etc. I do.

EDIT: I found the problem. SDN is not setting a cookie.

EDIT the second: Beef Taco set the cookie for SDN to 'block', fixed now.

On multiple browsers and devices, the "quick reply" is open on all thread pages for me.

That is a result of the new software updates.

Damn, I think I need to get one of those solid-state drives. The database has grown to the point where, if too many requests pile up, the machine becomes super-slow as it pounds like hell on the swap space and the hard disk goes nuts.

Have you tried tuning MySQL or switching to Percona first? It also sounds like you could use more RAM before the magic fix of an SSD.

No, I have been somewhat remiss in my checking duties. Mind you, we're still running on the HP desktop computer which I ran out and bought on short notice when the old server died, and I'm not sure if it can even be upgraded beyond the amount of RAM that it already has.

Well, that was strange. I plugged in a new device to my network and basically as soon as it was plugged in, everything started screwing up. I rebooted the router and that seemed to fix it, but only for a few minutes, and then it started screwing up again. I unplugged the device, and everything seems to be back to normal. Apparently, it's the networked device from hell.

What device is it?
