That was a very nice match to watch. Hopefully, the Aussie can come back into the game.

Well, that was a massacre. We totally declassed the Australians (Though the unjustified red card for the Australian guy made the third and fourth goal a lot likelier).

Lets hope we can keep that standard - except for the two or three 100% chances we missed.

Wouldn't call that red card unjustified, though it could have been given as a yellow instead.

I was hoping Australia would make it a fight after the first three minutes, but once Germany got its shit in gear, the outcome was pretty much a foregone conclusion. They don't have much of a problem with scorers either, that's for sure.

Germany showed who's going to the semi finals. They did what I expected them to do agaisnt a weak team.

Dear England,

Don't finish second in your group.

Much love,

Australia.

It was totally unjustified, a blind monkey could have seen that.

Apart from that, Germany are A) playing well and B) winning.

Well done to them.

I'm looking forward for tomorrow's game of Portugal against the Ivory Coast and Brazil against North Korea.

I fully expect both Portugal and Brazil to massacre their opponents but kinda dread the inevitable Portugal vs. Brazil match. I hope Portugal defeats Brazil but I know that will not happen. Then again who knows? :)

EDIT: Upon reading a Yahoo Sports article about tomorrow's Portugal\IC match, I've downgraded my expectation from fully expecting Portugal to win to I just hope they win. I mean really they just reached Port Elizabeth late this morning and they are getting themselves ready for tomorrow's game. I hope they don't end up exhausted for the match.

Cameroon vs Japan was the worst match so far. A truly pathetic performance by both teams. Holland and Denmark will massacre both of them.

What the fuck are you doing, Italy?! 4 shots apiece in the first half, and you can't put one in? This is disgustingly slow.

Darth Fanboy's official world cup prediction:

As long as the United States is participating winning not losing Americans will pretend to care. I mean goddamnit even I am starting to think that following this thing might be a good idea, although that could be because there are a few bars that are going to open at 6:30am for games and by crikey that's as good a time as any to have a few beers and curse at televised foreigners.

portugal vs ivory coast. Should have had some suberb football. In terms of chances very little has come overall. I'll be watching North korea take on Brazil, I would like to know just who in the stadium them given North korea essentially dosen't allow many people out of it's country, well not without N korea officals anyway.

BTW: Just where does one stand on what is acceptable brand marketing? Mc Donalds or bar mars useing national flags to sell their brands for the world cup is fine. Having Nike beamed all across the billboards and saying what type of boots you must wear is fine. Having the damm horns blowing is fine. Yet a beer company designing a mini skirt with no name on isn't?

Most of the matches up to now were rather disappointing. The teams either were really bad or only played on defensive, waiting for errors of the opponent. The only two matches I actually enjoyed were South Korea-Greece and Germany-Australia.

ESPN's Mike Tirico just said it best as he just pointed out that for the 8th time in 14 games there has been a scoreless first half.

That was an incredible performance by North Korea for the first half of the match.

Most certainly. I actually hope they can keep it up for the rest of the match, or even win. They're playing their socks off.

Indeed. I bet that striker will be a national hero now since he managed to score against Brazil. Admittedly it was from like 5 meters from the goal but hey a goal is a goal.

So you missed Germany vs Australia? :P

But yeah, most of the games have been boooooooooooring, not to mention there being a lot of teams that simply played absolutely terribly bad - especially Japan vs Cameroon (sp?) was atrocious.

Its still funny how Germany of all teams (well not surprising since 2006, but most still haven't got used to it) is playing some of the most interesting football (and no I am not biased at all!), while teams like Brazil and Portugal were absolutely uninteresting.

Its also fucking sad how many goals are being made because of atrocious goalkeeper errors and not by good play of the offense of various teams.

Well, by half-time, it's pretty much clear that Germany would have won the match. It's not as unpredictable as today's match.

I'm amazed at how well North Korea managed to hang on. They're still screwed because of that group, but.

On the football side North korea do show good promise, I was amazed they made brazil work hard for the win, and if it wern't for one aspect of bad goalkeeping on korea's side, it could have been a draw. Nonethless, seeing how North Korea played, they could have a decent chance in getting out of the the group stages.
