I can only think of two movies set in Tampa off the top of my head: Cop and a Half and The Punisher (the one with Tom Jane and Travolta). I actually thought both were pretty decent and I really enjoyed Punisher so there you go.

Can't think of anything else set (or filmed) here, aside from maybe when some military movie/show might have stopped by MacDill for whatever reason. But I don't think that counts.

Oh yeah, there was a porn movie that was partially filmed on a ship based out of St. Pete, though they didn't tell them what it was for. :D Never seen it, though.

Part of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was also set in Tampa (it's where the mental hospital that Ray Finkle escaped from was.)

Off the top of my head, in my state, there's Boondock Saints, The Departed, Bewitched (I was born in Salem), A Civil Action, and Mystic River, The Crucible, and the absolutely horrible The Covenant.

I also heard that parts of the Saving Private Ryan beach landing were filmed at Hampton Beach.

There's only one movie I can think of that was set in the city where I live and that's Fort Worth, one of the few Randolph Scott movies I haven't seen. Parts of Logan's Run were shot here, as were parts of several Oliver Stone movies.

As far as movies set in Texas are concerned:

The Wild Bunch
El Dorado
The War Wagon
The Searchers
Duel In The Sun
Old Yeller

and of course, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

Excluding IRA/terrorist propaganda movies we have The Most Fertile Man in Ireland, and that's about it. City Of Ember was made in Belfast if that counts?

I believe one of the Resident Evil movies was shot in Toronto. Not entirely sure, though.

I base this on a possible sighting of our rather unique city hall building in one of the commercials.

Multiple films have been shot in San Francisco, but the first one to come off the top of my head and which is also a favorite is The Rock.

Død snø. Eventually "The Swarm" movie will be set here, but that won't come out for quite a while, so I can't say whether it will be good or not.

Not exactly set where I live, but part of Empire Strikes back was filmed near here.

Yeah I mentioned IRA propaganda already. Which it was, shameless Brit bashing IMHO.

The only thing that springs to mind is the Dead Parrot Sketch. 28 Days Later with the soldiers was probably set somewhere around here; it was North of Manchester and south of Cumbria, so it was probably in Lancashire, Danny Boyle himself coming from Bury. East is East and The Parole Officer spring to mind for Manchester, they were pretty good. TV-wise, Survivors, The Royle Family, New Street Law, Shameless, State of Play, Life on Mars, Cracker, Queer as Folk, Phoenix Nights and Dead Man Weds spring to mind.

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, which is actually a kind of awful movie but still fun to watch, once in a while. Nominally set around metro L.A., with a cool excursion out to Davis Monthan for a shootout scene in the boneyard.

It was the 2nd one, I remember this because one of the trails I bike on got closed off for a few months thanks to the shoot.

It's not a movie, but this music video by Feist was filmed at my workplace.

Watership Down is about the only movie/book in my particular neck of the woods that I can think of.

There are only two things that I can think of that were filmed in my hometown. An absolutely awful film called limbo, and an absolutely awful television special called "Baywatch: White Thunder at Glacier Bay"

There is a group that does short films here called "Alaska Robotics." One you should definitely check out is Sarah Palin: Relatively Awesome

The only two movies that have been filmed in my town are Lucas and part of Larry the Cable Guy: Witless Protection.

So I'm going to go with Lucas. :P

The only movie shot in my hometown was The Molly Maguires, a 1970 Sean Connery/Richard Harris film about social injustice in the coal mines.

The Hills Have Eyes setting was loosely (very loosely) based on Centralia, Pennsylvania, a town almost completely destroyed by a mine fire in the 1970's and 1980's. I was actually married in that town, the last marriage performed before they tore the church down.
