Hmm. A Vice Admiral. Since I get seasick, I will be under the ocean with my new attack sub. And an all female crew. That's an order.

Is this really as awesome as you thought it would be?

<snip>

Each of these ships is fully equiped, including paracites and aircraft and in full working order with a loyal Crew. As well, there are six automated floating naval facilities in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans with automated munitions factories, aircraft factories, hydroponic farms for production of food, fuel production systems and such to supply consumables and automated repair yards, each able to service forty ships at a time, as well as being equiped with substantial point defense weapons, including anti ICBM strategic defense lasers and anti ship missile batteries as well as a few reletively resteraunts and Hotels. The SD.net Navy is broken up into Six fleets (Australian, East African, Eastern Pacific, Western Pacific, North Atlantic and South Atlantic) nearby a Base.

What do you do and what happens?
With my little frigate I head straight for the nearest platform and 'upgrade' her to the maximum extent the facilities will allow

Preferably it'd be in TBOverse mode, It'd use nukes and lots of them also I'd trade the helicopter for a VTOL F-35 equipped with nuclear air to air missiles. Most importantly I would equip my ship with the most powerful sonar and radar systems that I could possibly cram into it.

Then I'd set sail to someplace remote and of little tactical or strategic value and sit out the inevitable chaos as the SDN Navy factionalizes and each faction fights eachother for dominance, my initial concerns would be other rogue ships that are spending their time eliminating competition. After the main fighting stops I wait for the surviving faction to eliminate the more dangerous rogue ships before wiping out the remnants of the surviving faction.

With my Halifax on steroids I'd use my nuclear capability to add credibility to my claim to all six platforms. In time I'd build a new fleet, ofcourse in order to man it I'd motivate immigration using profits gained by selling oil on the cheap (volume would make up for the low per barrel cost) and arms and ships for substantial sums (the Chinese want carriers, but they'll have to pay for them...after all I can't give away weapons that'd likely be used against me.)

Eventually I see everything coming to a head with the world aligning against me, The USN would lead the charge of the "Millionaire Wars" (my navy being called the 'Millionaire Navy' due to the very handsome pay rates to insure loyalty)

All sides would take devastating losses as nukes are used freely as platform by platform are destroyed and subsequent retaliatory actions devastate the alliance of world powers fighting against my "tyranny"

The Empire's warlord-era would be nothing compared to SDN.

I'll petition Q to give me a Type 22 Batch 3 frigate instead of the Halifax and try to protect the base in the North Atlantic.

In a similar vein to Raesene's proposal, I ask for a Zeven Provinciën class frigate and politely request whether the Dutch navy has any use for my high-tech ship. Since I have access to refuelling stations etc. I shouldn't be too costly, and I like the idea of patrolling off the coast of some backwater area blowing up pirate boats or drug smugglers whilst getting a nice suntan. I'm not too ambitious, I don't need to rule the world -- just give me a tall ship and a bunch of GPS satellites to steer her by :D.

That's a good 2,000 tons heavier than the Halifax, and only 2,000 tons short of the Arleigh Burke.

However, were I to petition the relevant ROB for something different, I suppose I would ask for La Fayette as opposed to a Halifax - she actually masses less.
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

The armament of a type 22/3 is more comparable to that of Halifax than to the Burke, and I prefer the look of the T22/3.
The displacement of a Halifax is listed as 4770 ts, of HMS Cornwall 5300 ts, with the later Burkes at 9200 ts (all from the official sites). I'm not asking for a Type 45 destroyer here - but if I get one (I've been really nice, Santa ;-) ) I'll sell it to the RN for 10% of its building price under the condition that I can choose the name.

Byebye, Standardisation :-) Anyone interested in some German frigates ?

EDIT: numbers:

Approximate number of ships:

1000 Halifax-frigates (or equivalents)

200 Arleigh Burkes (or equivalents)

110 Ticonderogas/Virginias (or equivalents)

130 Kirovs/Ohios/CVNs

I've no particular desire to be standardized with the SDN fleet... I wouldn't trust that bunch of nuke-toting Machiavellian power-mongers () as far as I could throw their Kirovs, Ohios and Nimitz'es. Especially not now that I've got to make do with a smallish frigate (actually a destroyer in disguise, but hey) myself -- in case of an apocalyptic gang-up I doubt I'd last more than ten seconds...

When push comes to shove, I don't really feel like ceeding ultimate authority over my funky brand-spanking-new high-tech boat to our Beloved Moderator-Admirals, no matter how much they may outrank me. Pardon my English, but you guys have about as much experience directing the movement of airwings and destroyer-screens as I do (that's to say, none at all). And that doesn't make me feel very safe in case of the aforementioned apocalyptic gang-up since, you know, the nature of my boat means it'd be on the edge of the destroyer-screen and first in the firing line when the USN comes gunning for us.

So long story short, it's see you when I see you, I'm going rogue :D.

A number of Ohios is the hands of teenagers... if Q is wise, he replaces the Uranium or Plutonium in the warheads with Lead without telling anyone.

Definitely a Tico. Hmm...RNS Cortez. A missile cruiser named the RNS Cortez. Yes. This is good. We'd have to organize quickly and communicate with world governments pronto. Sure, they might like to nuke this enormous surface fleet fast...but not if it's explained to them that if one flies, they all fly, and we've got a lot of boomers :)

It's possible to have cruise missile armed Ohios. The SSGN conversion has taken place for a couple of them, beginning with the Ohio.

One important thing that Zor forgot to give us is the technical, tactical, and strategic proficiency to match our ranks and our commands-- without them, those warships will be nothing more than overpriced yachts, and just as useful in combat.

As for what I'd do with my Aegis cruiser, I'd probably just sell it to the USN. It's tempting to join the Navy and try to get in 16 more years of service so I can earn retirement, but as I suffer from anxiety and OCD, I doubt I'll make a good admiral.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

He did? Oh boy... I mean, they look awesome and I'm reasonably sure they're actually fairly impressive in terms of capabilities, but we've got only four of them. Four! Meanwhile the USN has enough Arleigh Burke class ships to pave the North Sea with, and they'd have enough other ships left to form a deck-to-deck chain around Ireland.

Frankly if Q transformed every USN vessel into a Boston Whaler mounting a .50cal and three Marines, and all those Whalers lined up against the entire Royal Dutch Navy, I'd expect we'd still lose that fight.

But then a lot of people 'round these parts like to wank to our awesome navy, commandos, air-mobile regiments, and so on. Despite the fact that there's only approximately a dozen people in each branch...
