@ Ando's fight clip:

The Ray Lewis guys dive in right away and the Joe Flacco guy just sort of sits there and watchs after flailing his arm useless once (similar to the way Joe throws passes in critical moments).

Much as I want to say something snarky, Redskin fans usually mouth off more than they can back up anyway so I'm not going to defend him. (Goes without saying I don't condone the fighting but...ehh what's the use.)

@ Havok:

Love how the games have to be stopped in the preseason now, which is great because it will ramp things up that much more in the regular season I think. So much for the one moneymaking preseason game either of these two teams has.

Just saw on the ticker that a couple of players are facing suspensions for off season incidents, yet Haynesworth gropes a waitress, pleads no contest, and isn't facing anything?

Honestly, what am I missing? I understand that Britt and Talib had arguably worse infractions depending on who you talk to, but Haynesworth being a big name player on a premiere team and getting nothing for a terrible act reeks of inconsistency. I'm already on record as being against Goodell taking action against players for action during the lockout my opinion hasn't changed but whatever the league decides I would appreciate consistency.

Got a link to the Haynesworth story? Because this is the first time I heard of it.

So much for a joint stadium.
On top of that, the 49ers want to call off the exhibition game with the Raitards entirely:
49ers will recommend ending preseason games vs. Raiders

NFL.com Wire Reports
Published: Aug. 21, 2011 at 05:42 p.m.
Updated: Aug. 23, 2011 at 04:06 a.m.

After violence marred a weekend preseason game against the archrival Oakland Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers on Monday moved to strengthen security at home games, including banning tailgating after kickoff and warning fans that rowdy behavior won't be tolerated.

Jed York, 49ers CEO, also said he will recommend that the NFL call off the annual preseason battle between the Niners and Raiders indefinitely.

"This is a game where you have a rivalry situation and, unfortunately you have the worst segment from a very small segment of both fan bases that come and brings about this type of event," York said Monday at a news conference at Candlestick Park. "It's our belief that we should recommend to the NFL that this game is at least postponed for some period of time."

York later said, "It's unfortunate."

Raiders' CEO Amy Trask said in response that "we have a terrific working relationship with the 49ers organization, and we look forward to discussing and addressing this issue with them, in the same collaborative and cooperative manner we do all issues."

The San Jose Mercury News reported that the league and police strongly support ending the traditional meeting between the teams. The newspaper cited a high-ranking NFL source as saying that there is no way the game will be played next year or the year after.

The 49ers, meanwhile, moved to strengthen security at home games. The 49ers will stop selling alcohol in the fourth quarter -- possibly earlier if the crowd is unruly -- and ban tailgating during and after the game and in the early morning.

York said the team would even turn away season ticket holders at the gate if officers think they are ready to start trouble.

The violence overshadowed the 49ers' 17-3 win over the Raiders.

"This game was like no other that I can remember, and I've been a Niner fan my whole life," Police Chief Greg Suhr said. "Nobody could have been prepared for what happened on Saturday night."

Suhr, Mayor Ed Lee and 49ers team officials said DUI checkpoints will be near the stadium after games as authorities will strictly forbid alcohol consumption at that time.

They also plan to make police and security more visible inside and outside the stadium and urged fans to be more accountable for their actions.

"To those of you who decide to come to our games, and it really doesn't matter what jersey you may be wearing, or what hat you may wear, or what team you may support, your behavior on Saturday night is not welcome," said Jim Mercurio, the 49ers' vice president of stadium operations and security. "Don't come here. You're not welcome."

Earlier Monday, Lee said he was horrified as he watched violent fan confrontations at the game. Lee attended Saturday's game with Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, and both witnessed the brawling firsthand as spectators.

"They were just constantly wailing at each other without regard to who was there," Lee said of the fans. "This is a family outing, for residents and visitors and people who want to see the game, not for people to look for people they don't like, then saying bad words, then getting into it."

Two men who were initially listed as seriously injured in the violence were upgraded to fair condition on Monday.

One of the victims, a 24-year-old man who reportedly was wearing a T-shirt reading "F--- the Niners," was shot several times in the stomach. Police said he managed to make it to stadium security for help despite the injuries.

The other victim is a 26-year-old man who was beaten unconscious in an upper level stadium restroom during the fourth quarter.

Another shooting victim was treated after receiving superficial facial wounds after the game.

Police did not release the name of any victims. No arrests have been made.

Police were seeking motives in the shootings, including whether the attacks were influenced by emotions involving the annual Battle of the Bay exhibition or possibly gang connections.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that video footage of fights between fans at the stadium have begun to appear on YouTube.

Police said officers ejected at least 70 people from the stadium on Saturday, compared to about 20 at other games. The figure from Saturday did not include several dozen people ejected by team security, Mercurio said.

There were 90 calls for medical service that day, a figure far higher than at a typical Niners home game, officials said.

Running back Frank Gore said at 49ers headquarters that he was shocked to see so much violence.

"I think some of the fans take it too serious," Gore said. "It's a football game. I don't think they should be fighting and shooting and all that."

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello echoed similar concerns.

“We deplore the activities of a handful of fans at last night's game and pledge our full support to Mayors Lee and Quan and to state and local law enforcement agencies,” Aiello said in a statement Sunday. “We are carefully reviewing the events to make sure we have a full understanding of the facts. We will continue to work closely with our clubs and law enforcement agencies to support our fan conduct and stadium security initiatives."

Trask added that the incidents were not acceptable to the Raiders or to any National Football League team and "our thoughts are with all affected."

The Niners said attendance at Saturday's game was about 47,000, far less than the 60,000-seat capacity. Suhr said that there were 10 percent more police officers on hand than usual at the game. That total increased by 30 percent midway through the second quarter as the unruliness unfolded.

The recent violence come nearly five months after San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow was severely beaten by two men in Los Angeles Dodgers gear outside Dodger Stadium after the archrivals' season opener.

Two men charged in the beating, Louie Sanchez, 28, and Marvin Norwood, 30, have pleaded not guilty. Stow, 42, a Santa Cruz paramedic, suffered severe brain injuries and remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The Associated Press contributed to this report
The only thing I can think of to stop this kind of hooligan behavior is having cameras trained on the crowd, doubling the police presence for Raider games (both uniform and plainclothes, which the San Diego, Denver and Kansas City police departments do already) and tasering the shit out of troublemakers. Anyone arrested should forfeit their season tickets and be barred from the premises for life.

Just type the number 49 in the YouTube search bar and you get gems like this one:

A line filled with pro-bowlers. Niiiice. And good backup depth with Reid and Mattison. Love Ozzie's work here.

You also have Andy Moeller coaching them, another ace up the Ravens' sleeve. I watched the replay of the Ravens/Chiefs game and I'm surprised at just how well Flacco and Evans hit it off. It looked like they'd played together for years.

Yeah, but on the other hand pretty much every other receiver was not in sync with Flacco. Q especially wasn't, which is kinda bad considering he is supposed to be our #1 WR...

NBCSports
Boomer Esiason: Tim Tebow can’t play, can’t throw
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 24, 2011, 2:07 PM EDT

Move aside, Merril Hoge. You now have competition as Tim Tebow’s harshest critic.

Boomer Esiason, the former Bengals quarterback and current CBS analyst, says Tebow has no business being an NFL quarterback, and just because Tebow was successful at Florida, that’s no reason to think he’ll ever be any good with the Broncos.

“He can’t play. He can’t throw,” Esiason said, via Mike McCarthy of USA Today. “I’m not here to insult him. The reality is he was a great college football player, maybe the greatest college football player of his time. But he’s not an NFL quarterback right now. Just because he’s God-fearing, and a great person off the field, and was a winner with the team that had the best athletes in college football, doesn’t mean his game is going to translate to the NFL.”

Esiason says he can’t imagine why the old coaching staff wanted Tebow and doesn’t see what good it does for the current coaching staff to keep him around.

“What Josh McDaniel saw in him God only knows. Maybe God does know — because the rest of us don’t,” Esiason said.

All indications are that Tebow’s job is safe, even though he may not even be the third-best quarterback in camp. But there are a whole lot of people watching Tebow who think the Broncos would be better off without him.

I don't get the Tebow hate. I mean, yeah I know he openly supports anti-abortion and believes in God a whole bunch, but so fucking what? At least he has the sack to stand up and say it, unlike so many people that know that it can be an unpopular opinion and keep it to themselves. Does it make him a little dumb? Of course. So does playing football.

I hope the kid gets out of Denver and ends up starting somewhere and gets to crush Denver's hopes and dreams every chance he gets.

And why the fuck do we care what Boomer Esiason or Merril Hodge think about QB's? Esiason was a good QB, but he wasn't great. He was an OK college QB, but he wasn't great. Hodge was a fucking fullback.

Tebow reminds me quite a bit of Jake Plummer and Steve Young, of whom both Bill Walsh thought VERY highly of. Is he ready now? No, probably not. Will he be? Absolutely. Like Young and Plummer and now Vick, he is going to have to learn to stop relying on his physical gifts and be a Quarter Back. That ain't gonna happen in Denver.

He needs to get his ass to a West Coast system and in with a guy that knows how to COACH quarterbacks, not just was a good, or even great one.

The Tebow-hate is because he still thinks he is deserving to start in the NFL as a QB despite the fact that his game isn't designed for this level of play, his amazing athleticism allowed him to do things at the NCAA level that he will not accomplish at the NFL Level. Look at Vick, he still has his legs and can run but he became valuable to the Eagles because of his better passing. As of *right now* Kyle Orton is a better NFL QB and Orton gives the Broncos a better chance of winning. That doesn't mean Tebow won't be able to imporve his game and take that job away from Orton even by the end of this year.

There is also the fact that Timmy's mom allows her unbelieveably good fortune in Tim's healthy birth to misrepresent the doctors who advised her that proceeding with her pregnancy risked her life. Things worked out for her, but other women who might take that advice trusting in god over medicine might die. The point isn't that she has an opinion she believes in, it's that she would use her fortunate experience to convince others to put their health at risk.

I do like Tebow though because he annoys Flagg.

He has been in the league for all of two years and still has issues with his game, he has no reason to think he is more deserving and his arrogance causes him to air too much of his drama in public. In a bad division like the AFC West the Broncos have a shot to be in the playoffs they would not have in the other AFC divisions and Or ton gives the better chance of winning. Very rarely do young QBs make a big difference and Tim should have the brains to realize that he isn't one of those QBs yet.

Steve Young thought he was more deserving than Joe Fucking Montana to start for the 49ers. It is an INHERENT TRAIT that all QBs MUST have. And he was 6 years into his career and he still had issues with his game, so don't give me this two year bullshit.

And don't even, for one fucking second, blame Tebow for airing too much of his drama in public. Again, fucking please. How many news sources, on a 24 hour cycle, are at him every chance they get for a soundbyte? Sorry, but if the NFL had always had this kind of coverage, we would be a lot less kind to the players of the past and a lot less harsh on the players today.

I'm not an ardent Tebow fan, so don't get me wrong, but I'm sick of people saying he can't play when all he has done when he gets on the field is make things happen. He may not put up the wins, but that comes from actual playing time. He is in a shitty situation and on a QB carousel in Denver that everyone has managed to stay on so far, but that sucker has momentum and it is spinning faster.

What? Being arguably one of the best college players ever? Not leaving early and sticking to his commitment to the school? The Two National Championships? The Heisman? All the touchdowns?
What was it exactly that made you hate him for the shit at Floriduh. If you are a Seminoles or Miami fan, then I feel ya, otherwise, you are just what the kids call a "hater".
