Turned on computer this morning, logged in and checked SDN, which is how I found out. Haven't opened the TV yet, though I did check Salon.com as I usually do.

The moment I read it, late last night (and I immediately followed up) it was a Facebook status update from a high school acquaintance who is now a Democratic party activist (and so has interesting updates, generally).

This forum, finished watching GoT, started getting ready for sleep was reading the forum and did one last refresh saw FSTargetDrone's Bin Laden topic and hit huffpo/cnn/msnbc/fox/reuters/google looking for info, not in that order have a special bookmarks folder for breaking news with about nine news websites and was reading through them when I saw a story about a twitter posting then while I was reading it CNN updated their front page and I saw all the rest running the same or similar news headlines and posted here, within twenty seconds of starting my post Dalton posted that it was Bin Laden.

Hmm...I saw the notice of an Obama presser on MSNBC.com and immediately predicted what it'd be. I first saw the actual announcement on ABC and then flipped to Brian Williams on MSNBC for the rest of it.

For the record, MSNBC and NBC were simulcasting the NBC Special Report with Brian Williams.

At dinner with a group of friends, one of them gets phone call. Call went like this. "Hello?--- What the fuck dude, we're eating dinner, how dare you interr...--- What do you mean? No shit! Hey guys, we got him! We got bin Laden!" Everyone at the table busts out phones, in fact, everyone in our section of the restaurant busts out phones.

Actually I was calling my doctor for a prescription refill. Upon giving my address (in DC) they told me "Wow - bet there's a lot of celebrations there!" That was the first I heard of it .
