Come on Pats.

At least one of my favorite teams has to go to the superbowl.

I hope this Bears/Seahawks game makes the 'OMG teh bears are the worst team evar, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs' whining many Bears fans are walking around with goes away. I know many people in real life and on the radio that honestly thought that the Seahawks were going to run away with this game. The Bears are jut making the Seahawks look so inept on offense.

Beating the Seahawks is like beating a 5 year old. Easy.

-Did Joe Flacco fumble late in the game to give the Steelers key points?
-Did the Ravens have a golden chance to tie the game towards the end thanks to a dumb Steeler Penalty (rightfully called) plus a squib kick?
-Did Houshmenzadah flat out drop the pass that keeps the Ravens going at the end?

The answer is of course, yes. The Ravens failed to move the ball enough and Joe Flacco turned into a wet noodle under pressure. Pittsburgh was penalized more times for more yards also.
Right, like I said, the Steelers cheated.

And that pic that is posted of the holding call is totally out of context. The defender isn't pulled down or away from making the play, he was blocked backwards onto his ass towards where the runner was going. That is just a good block. The fact that he had a hold of his jersey is what makes the call so ricky tic, as you could literally call that on EVERY SINGLE PLAY ever run on a NFL football field if you wanted. It's just more Steeler ref collusion.

The Steelers having high penalties and yardage is just to make it look good to the casual observer. :P

Just to illustrate... go to 7:00

He gets blocked. He knows he is totally beat so he throws his arms up and quits on the play, and gets the call.

Not so much that I don't like them, I respect the hell out of the whole organization, I'm just sick of them. They had their day.

I like parity in the NFL. I want shitty teams to get better and shock people every year like the Chiefs did.

Though hopefully the Jets will beat the Steelers.

Why are you a communist?

It's funny, I read an article recently where it's claimed that the NFL is heavily socialist or communist since they use a salary cap and other measures to try and force parity among the teams whereas in Europe they let their soccer teams spend freely in full capitalist fashion.

He knows he's beat because he's being held. I'm not sure why he needed to go for the Emmy.

I won't argue that they can make that call on nearly every play though.

Also, as a Steelers fan, I am discouraged by the amount of money put out so the Steelers could win this game:

1) the refs, especially the bonus pay to make calls against the Steelers at times that wouldn't hurt them so much
2) Rice, to have his (first of the year?) fumble
3) Flacco, to toss that interception
4) Birk, to fumble a snap
5) Lewis, to get old
6) Housh, to drop that pass
7) Boldin, to drop that other pass
8 ) All 8 of the Ravens DB's to let Brown get so wide open behind them

We're barely going to have enough to cover the costs of winning against the Jets next week. If the Patriots couldn't afford it....

Well, at least he is admitting that the call was more than questionable on standard play.

That said, I hear some complaining that the problem was Flacco.

I don't belive that, I think the real trouble was that the WRs, who played far better in the regular season, just were not there this game. Bolden and Housh dropped easy passes.

Anybody else wants to speculate on the reasons for defeat?

Flacco a little bit, Boldin and Housh a LOT bit.

Boldin just flat out makes that TD catch. I seen him make it a ton of times against the Niners. Housh, though, man... he has bitched since he got to Baltimore that he wasn't getting the ball enough, and he does that? I don't know if you saw his reaction, but it says it all. He fucked up big time and he knows it.

No though, the Ravens mediocre secondary lost this game. 3rd and fucking 19? Heath Miller wide open in the back of the end zone? Without Reed, they just aren't that good. Look for the Ravens to make a HUGE push for Nnamdi Ausgomugha this off season.

Flacco is a good young QB. He made all his throws, but he just had a horrible run in the third that kept them from every getting momentum back.

There was no excuse for Boldin to drop that pass in the end zone. That was worse than the questionable calls.

Turnovers kill in the playoffs, since the teams are usually evenly matched. That's why I give a FUCK YEAH! to Greg Olsen of the Bears. Not only did he burn the Seahawks three times, but with each catch he covered up the ball with two hands to make sure no one could strip it.

Flacco really didn't play well, but no one on the Ravens made plays in the second half. Even their defense got shredded repeatedly. The Pats-Jets game wasn't nearly as close as the final score indicated--I felt the Jets really controlled the game throughout. They have to do something about their special teams, though: missed FG, never pinning the Pats inside the 20, despite three punts from New England territory (none of which were close to being good--two sailing far into the end zone and the other going out of bounds), and the ridiculous onside kick coverage where they were really very lucky to come up with the ball first.

The Pats also caught their share of breaks, but they were obviously overmatched today.

Greg Olsen was monstrous in that game. One of the best games from any receiver I've seen this season. The Seahawks had absolutely no answer for him. I still can't believe how easily Lawyer Milloy let him get by--it seemed like Olsen was just running a clear-out for a receiver on an underneath slant pattern... and then it was a TD.

Really? That must have been why the Steelers have always been a dominant team in professional foot -- no, wait a minute, they scraped the bottom of the barrel until 1972. They finally became a decent team, winning their 4th Super Bowl in 1980. Then they sunk into obscurity again, not seeing a Super Bowl until 1996 and lost that one. Back into obscurity and are only now coming back as a dominant force again.

I'm sick and tired of this bullshit about the Steelers buying off the refs somehow season after season after season. Have there been lucky calls? Yes. Some of those were actually good calls (I'm looking at you, Raiders). Then again, look at any team and they have had their share of lucky calls. How about less accusations and allegations and more actual evidence other than your butthurt?
