Martial Law in the USA October 1st!

Post by Lord Poe »

This rumor is spreading like wildfire on the video sharing sites, thanks to 9-11 Toofers, NWO and 2012 idiots, etc. I decided to piss in their cornflakes today. Check out my text responses to this video. Hilarity ensues!

Martial Law Oct. 1st? LOL!!!

Seriously, what the fuck? At least with the 9-11 Truther bullshit requires a minimal level of analysis to disprove, and can thus be passed off on the stupid masses. But to proclaim that MARTIAL LAW will be declared over the nation a week from today, for no apparent reason? How the hell do any of these numbnuts expect to avoid embarrassment when that day comes?

I'm pretty much a big sheep, but this is the first I'd heard of this. Any idea what the conspiracy theorists are basing this on? Most of the time (not all) they have some grounding in some real happening that they distort.

The comment thread goes along pretty well with today's xkcd :D .

If I'm reading that shit right (and "Frigne" actually means "fringe", that fuckwit on your comments section seems to believe that international boundaries are defined by the flag you hang over the door; I suppose that means that the Americn Steak house down the road from me is actually sovereign American territory.

edit: not quite, I see. Still stupid

The US Marines will shortly be by to liberate them. :D

On a more serious (well, relatively speaking) note, are they basing this off WalMart trucks carrying Martial Law signs?

The same way religious cults that predict the end of the world do. When it doesn't happen, they'll lay low for a while, then throw out a new prediction. Perhaps they'll claim the martial law didn't take place because we didn't believe in it enough. Remember that we're not talking about people with a strong devotion to reason.
Most of the time (not all) they have some grounding in some real happening that they distort.
I have no idea what real-life event they think constitutes instituting martial law, and I get the feeling the people who claim this don't know either. Since when did conspiracy theorists let a lack of evidence get in the way of their fantasies? If anything, they'd contend that the lack of an obvious reason to fear this makes their fears more sensible, because the NWO is just that insidious.

BATMAN:
Robin, I've figured it out! What rhymes with October? Tuber. What's similar to a tuber? A shrub. What's George Bush's nickname? President Shrub.

When is the world going to end? 2012.

When is martial law going to start? 10/01/2008. When you take out the zeroes and add the dates, Robin, you get 1 + 1 + 2 + 8 =12!. The year the world will end!

President Bush is warning us, Robin. Warning us all. If the bailout plan does not pass, the world will end in martial law four years ahead of schedule!

ROBIN:
Holy deductive reasoning, Batman! It all fits! And yet, you're full of shit! Pass me that crack pipe!

So the 3rd ID is rotating a battalion home from Iraq to possibly practice police techniques in America. Maybe on Americans. That's not so good, but it is legal. Posse Commitatus is dead. Do 300 grunts rotating back home to get trained to do Good Samaritan work mean we're under the jackboots? Uhh, no.

Good vid, Poe. Short sweet and making good use of a book that many 'truthers' didn't know even existed.

Here's more background on this idiocy. I'm a regular member of Live Video, and they have 24/7 live shows there by the tinfoil hat brigade espousing all this 911 Toofer crap, the New World Order, 2012, etc. This 19 year old kid, known there and on Youtube as "Coreyislive" puts out these ridiculous videos about this stuff, then complains when he gets criticized by people with a brain. "You're just ignoring my message because of my age!" I usually leave the guy alone, but yesterday, he put out this video:

What Happend to The Country I Once Knew?

(Apologies if you can't see it; its on a Ning server, and sometime when I send people links to these videos, they can't access them)

I left this comment on his video:
Corey, there isn't one single, credible news source that supports the "martial law in October" nonsense. Not one. Every conspiracy-laden website out there is, however. If people would stop trying to live above their means; maxing out credit cards they've no hope of paying, using more than half their income on housing, buying SUVs instead of used cars, this economy wouldn't be as bad.
In answer, he posted this video: Oct. 1st Military starts Martial Law Mission

Yeah. This is his valid news source. So that on top of the usual idiots prompted my video in the OP!

Damn! Who leaded the RA3 early release? It was going to be glorious. Martial Law in America as shadows fall across the Statue of Liberty because this October is a RED OCTOBER. Now we're going to have to push it back to it's original release.

OK, let's see what this link actually says:
The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.

Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.
Like, ZOMG, it's the end of the world.

Conspiracy theorists share some traits with scifi wankers: they have no sense of scale and don't know anything about the fucking numbers. Not surprising, since a retard is a retard.

A brigade is several thousand men. I did a little Googling on the 1st Brigade Combat Team, and the number I found was about 6,500. I doubt that's all combat troops, since large parts of any army unit are made up of support personnel.

A sizable portion of the US Army, numbering WELL over 100,000 troops, is struggling to maintain order in Iraq. Yet a force less than one-twentieth of the size is supposed to impose martial law on America, a vastly larger and more populous country? Nevermind that real soldiers aren't soulless drones of the state but actual people, and would probably object to suppressing their own countrymen.

Really, this article isn't shocking in the least. So a small part of the federal army will now be assigned to protect the continental US and respond to disasters. After 9/11, I'm actually surprised this hasn't already been done. And it's not like such a force hasn't existed forever - you know them as the National Guard. :wanker:
