Yeah, this weekend's schedule hasn't exactly got me drooling. It's tough to follow up on the anticipation that preceded last Saturday, but mousing over this week's lineup made me go bleah. I wouldn't be surprised if ND lost to Michigane State. The Spartans have just had their number over the last oh, nine seasons. I think Brady Quinn thought they were just going to give him the Heisman and that he wasn't going to have to earn it. I already feel the "wait 'til next year" blues coming on.

I don't think Quinn would develop that attitude, Remember, he has fought through some lowly years at Notre Dame.

So GT dominated UVA. I'm talking utter domination.

We hit Calvin in stride twice for TDs. I was hoping we could pitch a shutout.

Even though this was a total beatdown, I am concerned about the productivity of our running game. We are missing PJ Daniels. I also question the overuse of the shotgun by our offense. Going under center will greatly help the running game.

Im not yet convinced that this offense could handle the likes of VT and Miami. But we will find out how far we've come next weekend. If we beat VT, we must go the ACC Championship game.

I never thought I'd have to say this MJ, but I am going to have to reassure you about GT's chances against Miami.

Miami STINKS. My dog left a big steaming pile out by the mailbox today that I nicknamed Miami, the smallest most oddly shaped nugget I nicknamed "Larry". Georgia TEch has looked good in their games so far and they should be favored comfortably going into that game. VT will still be a battle though.

My God, Georgia is sucking against Colorado, an awful team. Worst performance EVER. The defense is doing OK considering they've been playing for nearly the entire game, but the offense is going three-and-out just about every time, there's no blocking, and we have NO receivers. NO ONE CAN CATCH A BALL.

For a bit there I thought Penn State was going to make a run at it...I think the game was a little closer than the final score indicates. But man, does OSU look tough. Arkansas over Alabama was a mild surprise, as was the Georgia-Colorado game. Other than that, everything seemed to be pretty much to form. WVU doesn't seem to be having much trouble with ECU although the final score might not be as piled-on as you might expect, and I don't see Arizona giving USC much trouble. ND v. MSU kicks off in less than an hour...here we go.

Edit: Oh my, this is getting ugly...

Ugh, once again how can GT have lost to ND?

Losing to a crappy team, and no wins over good competition. My opinion about our teams quality is starting to change...

First game of the year rust? I'm a bit puzzled myself, given how GT has had a pretty easy time since then and the ND defense has been porous as a sponge.

31-14 at halftime? Fuck me runnin'...

Edit: Read an interesting tidbit in the paper the other day:
Tyrone Willingham was 11-4 in his first 15 games at Notre Dame, with the 15th game being a blowout loss to Michigan. Charlie Weis is also 11-4 in his first 15 games at Notre Dame, with the 15th game being a blowout loss to Michigan.
There's a big difference between being overrated and being knocked down a few notches and having the bottom drop out on you. Or am I a pessimist?

Sorry, I'll do further bitching in the venting thread.

Bama may have lost to Arkansas, but in Division II play, Number 4 North Alabama beat Southern Arkansas by a score of 40 to 10, en route to their fourth national champinship.

Well holy shit, that was a fucking comeback. Natre Dame wins, 40-37. I'm happy for the Irish, of course, but that has got to suck losing like that. What a game.

Whoa, State lost? Damn, I didn't even think of checking back up on that game, so sure was I of ND's ultimate collapse.

Elsewhere, the mighty Wolverines continue their march towards an undefeated showdown at the horse-shoe in Columbus...

How about them Irish?!! Quite a comeback there. Did anybody think it was quite pretentious of Lee Corso to speak negatively of Dan Devine when Devine wears a national championship ring and Corso never came close?

MSU's mid-season implosion came a little early this year, but it came nonetheless. A loss to the Fighting Illini has insured their mediocrity for one more season.

Elsewhere, Alabama holding firm against overrated Florida.

For one, Tim Tebow is a fucking pimp.

And two, even though Leak is a tool and a second rate QB, that was an exceptional run, and I really dug his reaction. Assholes like TO and Chad Johnson have their lame TD dances, but they don't mean anything. The way Leak ran and jumped down the field after that great play was refreshing to see--some real emotion instead of kiddie endzone dancing bullshit.

Woohooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Georgia Tech just drilled Virginia Tech. Our offense was clicking! And we survived a comeback bid. I was nervous for a bit, the boys did not let me down.

This really cements Tech as a top national team this year. But despite this I do have a few complaints.

1.) The defense was not tough enough on Glennon for my tests, no interceptions. The fumbles were nice though. Secondary gave up some big plays.

2.) Reggie really did make one really bad interception.

3.) The Officiating was absolutely terrible. This was the worst officiated game I've seen. You could say that OU vs Oregon was a bigger hackjob, but that was only a couple calls. There were several bad calls in this game. This officiating crew should be suspended.

It could shape up that the winner between Clemson and Georgia Tech would be the undisputed best team in the ACC.

As I said before, I will be very pissed if we are not in Jacksonville since we are now the division leader (though all Miami has to do is beat us then Miami will be right back on top, I'm hoping we can pull out the victory against the Canes. (Not dismissing Clemson and Maryland, but they are in a different division and a loss to one of them isn't the end of the world.))

Bama was downed by Florida, after the Tide fell apart about midway through the third quarter.

North Alabama beat Arkansas Tech and remains undefeated in Division II play, ranked Number 3 in the nation.

It pains me to say this, but I don't think you have much to worry about. We barely squeaked out a win against Houston, for Christ's sake...

Mike Hart and the Wolverines run roughshod over the hapless Golden Gophers, and in doing so return the Little Brown Jug to its rightful resting place in Ann Arbor. Up next the Paul Bunyan Trophy shall remain where it belongs as well. Undefeated Michigan rolls.

I was a little hopeful that Iowa would payback OSU for knocking them out of the number one spot in 1985 but I knew I was dreaming. First, out of all the Big 10 teams OSU has had Iowa's number the most in my lifetime. Second, what I've seen of Iowa this year has not been that impressive and they needed to be much better than that to beat Ohio State.

Holy Crap! Arizona sure seems like they suck. The defense isn't all that bad but the offense just can't do much of anything against a real Division 1 opponent. Can't run and can barely throw. I hope they are recruiting some offensive linemen and maybe a few running backs for next year.

I think we can beat Miami this year, but if we loose, Miami would be in the drivers seat for the division title.

I also recall what happenned last year at Virginia Tech, when Miami went on to pummel the Hokies 27-7 when everyone was predicting a huge VaTech victory.

This year is GT's best chance. VT is already out of the way and both Florida schools suck. Clemson is the only team I'd worry about right now.

Oh please. Maybe I'd be impressed if there was, I dunno, proof that Tebow could take the pressure in the pocket against seasoned SEC defenses and connect good passes, but since his passing plays against meaningful teams easily remain on one hand, I'm holding my breath on that hype. Leak is solid, but our overall offense is way way too sluggish coming onto the field; we can't wait until the second half to wake up and play like our ranking against LSU. Our pass defense could use some help too. Bama made them work a lot harder than they should.

In tonight's game (thursday), NC State pulled the upset and defeated FSU, 24-20. Am I imagining things, or is there a game on every night now, except for sundays and mondays? At any rate, the only game I really want to see this saturday is OU v. Texas. I can't believe the line on ND v. Stanford is 32.5 (or some ridiculously high number). I don't see ND covering that. And even though everyone I've seen making predictions has picked Tennessee, I like Georgia. I also like LSU to squeak by Florida. No real "upset special" this week, though.
