My cat died last night

At the age of 18, my cat, Zeus, died, only a year or so after the death of his beautiful sister, Hera. This cat had been in my family longer than I had, and I consider him to be as close a family member, and as good a friend as anyone. I miss him.

My condolences for your loss, did he have any kittens?

At least he died peacefully of old age rather than other worse causes.

I am sorry for you loss. I have lost 4 cats in my life time and only one lived in to its late teens.

Taken into the consideration that Zeus was apparently older then you, I can see this being a great loss. I'm sure he had a long happy life.

Just reading this brings back memories of my first cat. She died at the age of 18 and a half, I was two years younger then her at that time. For my whole life I had always known her presence, she had been a constant. When the whole world seemed to be against me, she was there to comfort me. As Mike said, pets become a part of the family. It is a hard thing to loose them. Even now over 7 years later I still cry when I think of my first cat. She brought joy to my life and her death made it just a little more hollow.

Sorry to hear that. As others have stated, I know what it's like to lose a cat you've had for most of your life and the effect it can have on you.

I'm very sorry to hear that, losing a pet is harsh as hell.

Eighteen years is an extremely old age for a kitty, it says something about the quality of life he had, I think.
