Alyrium Denryle wrote: Holy Shit. That is not a heart attack, or if it was, he had other bad shit going on and the heart attack was the immediate cause of death. That is a symptom of an Ischemic Stroke in his left hemisphere (and not many things cause paralysis or loss of feeling on one half of the body), which, if the cause of death was a myocardial infarction, would mean he was throwing clots all over the place.

Note: I am not that kind of doctor, and wont be any kind for another 10-12 months, but I analyze bad things in order to cope.

Not to clog up the thread with idle speculation, but yeah, hemisplagia would point to an ischemic CVA but not limited to that since we don't know if it really was hemisplagia, could be anything. A profound sense of weakness is not uncommon in myocardio infarction too. Someone mentioned the spider bite earlier, you're the critter dude, would a spider bite screw with coagulation in blood? That might lend to the ischemic CVA thing. Hell, for all we know, he went into ketoacidosis from his diabetes. No way to tell.

Again, my sympathies to the family.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? This is sad news. I've been a long time lurker, small time poster but he seemed like a genuinely nice guy and it makes me really sad that he passed.

I was worried when I saw that about the spider bite, as YB's circulation was bad, and I was thinking he had heart trouble as well as diabetes.

When I saw him post about losing feeling in his arm, I thought "IDIOT, GET TO THE DOCTOR", but didn't say anything.

When I didn't see him for a couple days, I knew something was Wrong... but hoped he was just in the hospital recovering.

I remember seeing him post not a few days ago and not thinking of it, like I usually did.. which just makes me feel like I sort of ignored him/took him for granted even though he's been around and paritcipating in the board for much (all?) of its existence. Its kinda like another piece of the 'old days' is gone, and you take it for granted until it happens.

I hope he's at peace wherever he is though, and I'll echo condolences to the family.

Another possibility is that he wasn't bitten by a spider at all but rather had an MRSA, which is misdiagnosed as spider bite fairly frequently. It is also particularly vicious in people with diabetes.

Likely, we will never know for sure. I know he had problems getting adequate medical care and I can't help but wonder how much of a factor that was.

He will be missed.

On a sad occasion like this, there is little that one can say. We will all miss our Yosemite Bear.

I can't believe that he was only 43. I didn't really interact with him nearly as much as you guys did, but it was still sad as hell to watch his posts get more and more incoherent as his illness got worse. My condolences to his friends and family.

Still a shock that he's gone. As for the spider bite, he did mention in the Venting thread that he was going to the clinic.
