As per the broad-based consensus established at the end of this thread, including by those who oppose the measure but feel it should be voted on, we're going for a vote on the question of whether or not the postcounts of the four flunkies in our little gang of vigilantes should all be reset as a punishment and warning of the unacceptable nature of their behaviour. They've all confessed, and on that basis we're proceeding with a vote to levy a minor but suitable punishment on them.
Therefore the vote options are for guilty -- postcount reset, not guilty, and abstain. The members to be punished are nt01jones, SPC Brungardt, rhoenix, and redleader34. The voice of the Senate shall now be heard.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

So, no, postcount resets are by no means permanent. Perhaps this will lead to some people altering their votes.In the senatorial discussions regarding a post-count reset for Einhander. I am seeing that members of this esteemed body make a mention of the fact that a post-count reset is a permanent punishment.
It is a permanent punishment, on paper. However, a board-wide postcount resync does have the effect of removing a board member's zeroed-out postcount.
Now, boardwide resync's tend to be very rare, and are usually only done after the closure of Spamworld following April Fools Day. However, this does make a postcount resync a de facto temporary punishment with a termination date of April 2.
