[Discussion] An exceptionally repulsive matter (WARNING).

Post by The Duchess of Zeon »

We have a fanfiction here virtually as bad as RayCav's. His name is Napoleon the Clown, incidentally, especially if the thread gets deleted. I thought it was more important to warn all of you so you don't read this while you're eating or something, however.

I'm going to quote it here in case the author tries to delete it, so brace yourselves for seeing something highly repulsive:
Peregrine Took and Meriadoc Brandibuck stood before the enormous black and white mass towering before them. It looked almost like a fish, though with a girth in excess of the hobbits' height and a length of eight times either's height it was far larger than any fish they'd ever laid eyes or teeth on. And this gargantuan fish-like creature lacked gills or scales. Pippin, as Peregrine was more widely called, did recall tales of oceanic fish that lacked scales, but he had never seen them. Until possibly now. And on the top of the head of this creature was a gaping hole. As the tide lapped at the pair's feet the great beast let out a final belch of humid air.

“What do you think it is?” Merry inquired of Pippin.

“I'd say a feast for the Shire, but how could we get the entire body home? And butchering it here isn't an option. I don't have a blade half as big as we'd need.” A mischievous grin lit up his face. “But I do know a use we could put it to.”

“What use would that be?” Merry eyed Pippin askance, worried that the idea could put the pair in hot water for the seventh time this week. Still, it would probably be a load of fun.

“See that hole there?” Pippin pointed at the hole on the creature's head. “Me standing on your back while you're on hands and knees. A beautiful match. And just think, we wouldn't need to worry about staying in touch 'nor marrying the girl!”

“What are you-” An image flashed in Merry's head, stopping all speech and even thought of anything but that image. That would put the hole right level with Pippin's hips. Almost instantly that image was replaced by memories of childhood games between the two. Days when the two were just getting curious of things beyond food and toys but still afraid to talk to the girls their age. Unconsciously Merry rubbed at his bottom. Both were still too embarrassed to admit what happened between them all those years ago. Convincing Gandolf to use his wizardry to help them without letting on what really happened was a feat as well. Merry was still convinced Gandalf knew, even if he never said anything. It was in the looks he gave them, the amused smiles.

“Well, give me a boost then.” Pippin's voice interrupted Merry's less than pleasant memories. With a sigh Merry knelt down on hands and knees. Again memories of an awkward adolescence flashed through his head. The metal buckle of Pippin's belt bounced off Merry's head as the other hobbit dropped the garments they held to his ankles. “Still warm.” Pippin mumbled through a smile. Merry repressed a shudder as Pippin's thrusting became stronger and stronger. The other's mumbles and grunts crept closer and closer to groans as he continued the smooth undulation of his hips. Fur covered toes curled into Merry's back. Sobbing softly to himself, Merry tried to put his mind anywhere else.

That's it. I wrote it for shits and giggles in less than an hour, probably a lot less. The whole point was to make it as disturbing as I could.

[edited to fix a formatting fuck up]
They rape a whale to death via suffocation.

The fact that someone even had the twisted imagination to write this is the sure sign of a fucking psychopath; that fact that it's trivialized just makes it that much worse.

I'm frankly hoping Mike will see this and just ban the worthless fucker without any further discussion or a vote in the Senate; but in lieu of that--do we have support for a ban poll with this repulsiveness duly considered? Fantasizing about raping an animal to death is the sort of psychopathic level of cruelty that it's probably the step before fantasizing about doing the same thing to a person. His presence could be easily construed as a threat to the average poster.

And so, yes, I think it's an open-and-shut case of dealing with the second Raycav.

That is, um, gross.

I don't know if it's RayCav gross, but it's bothersome nonetheless.

I'd be interested in why he felt it necessary to write something like that; he specifically stated he was trying to write something disturbing.

And, as disturbing goes, I still hold erotic anthropophagy as the bar.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Fantasy characters fucking a dead whale a RayCav-level, bannable offense?

If they were murdering women and engaging in necrophilia with the corpses, yeah, but this?

He did write it with the intention to disturb, and clearly states so.

This rates as a gigantic "Meh" as far as I'm concerned. Slap a "grossout" warning in the title if people are complaining.

Having never seen the actual text of the RayCav fic, I can't do a comparison, but I'd be inclined to deal with this rather harshly.

On reflection, I tend to agree with Frank, but I heartily dislike shit like this.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...yeah let's start banning for something as trivial as this.

At that point, one should let loose all standards and just have the admins ban whomever they felt has offended them in the slightest or who others tell them they have been offended by. Should be fun seeing who stands after that particular whirlwind.

It's eh at best, and not even to Darth Fanboy's usual level of grace and material. Slap a minor warning of "Ugly material ahead".

To be fair I don't think that's entirely accurate. For one thing if it had washed ashore it was probably dying anyway, in fact the following...
“Still warm.” Pippin mumbled through a smile.
...seems to indicate surprise that the whale was actually still warm which leads us to believe that the specimen was already dead.

I'm not personally bothered by it as in having some kind of emotional issue, I just find people who write things like that to be utterly contemptible trash. Whales are quite intelligent creatures and we shouldn't discount that in considering this.

Basically I'd actually just PMed Dalton about it and he said it was worth a Senate thread, so I made one.

Since there's only the RayCav precedent rather than explicit rules, I suggested banning because that's what happened to RayCav.

Personally, sexual violence against highly developed mammals is not at all very far removed from sexual violence against humans to me.

The "Written for kicks" part was what made me want to ban--because what kind of person "gets their kicks" from writing dead whale beastiality, exactly?

It probably also goes without saying that unless male Hobbit anatomy exceptionally disproportionate to their size, it's highly dubious that the described act would have been sufficient to cause suffocation. Perhaps if the Hobbit held his hips against the whale and rotated laterally but the OP does specifically mention thrusting.

By kicks he probably meant exactly the kind of reaction he’s gotten out of you. Me, I don’t care, I’ve seen far worse from the real world thanks to the intardnet already

If he wrote the piece for the specific purpose of trolling the board for outrage, then he should be punished.

I have seen much worse, also. Much, much worse. That's immaterial to the matter of whether or not it is suitable content for this message board.

Given all that's been going on here lately I think the board at large might find it reassuring that we do look at all aspects of any given situation. Given the lack of any real need to pass judgements quickly we may as well be thorough.

Two thoughts:

Thought one, its certainly not something I would ever wish to read and frankly I could have been happy not reviewing the breif quote but that said if its tagged properly and disclaimed then I'm not going to judge it.

Thought two is that since this is rather a distrubing attention grab the poster deserves close scrutiny in the future to see if all of life is one sick joke for him and his only purpose is to attention whore (in which case progressive discipline may be called for).

I think there's a difference between creating a thread to discuss the fanfic and what if anything should be done about it, and calling it an "open and shut case" for banning based on an inaccurate summary of the matter in question.

My summary is in no way inaccurate. It is precisely how I interpreted the fiction. That is honestly what I believed the intent of the story was to imply. Perhaps my long exposure to the Worst of the Internet has made me cynical, but the progression seemed fairly obvious to me. I was probably in error to be so aggressive, but I'm scarcely the only person in this thread, even, whose first impulse was to get the little sicko the hell off the boards.

I retrospect that's more sensible.

I just find absolutely nothing which can be redeemable about any section of the concept, particularly with the blaise fashion in which it is presented, particularly to simply garner attention.

I've usually found that the most effective way of dealing with attention-seekers is to deny them the thing they crave.
