[Discussion] June Nominations

Post by Surlethe »

My esteemed fellow Senators, it is that time again: time to once more consider the great and small, the expansive and diminutive, the proud and humble of those above whom we lord and rule at the request of our great and mighty Administration. My distinguished colleagues, it is time to nominate candidates for elevation and admission to this august and majesterial assembly, the Imperial Senate!

For my part, I wish to renominate the illustrious Noble Ire. My recommendations may be found here; his record has not been diminished, as far as I can tell, since that nomination post was written.

What say ye, fellow Senators? Do I hear a second or competing nominations?

---

I have also been ... ah ... requested to post the following:
Or you could vote in more female Senators because you know, we're special, and we'll bring balance to The Force, fulfill the prophecy and fix all the Senate's ills while we're at it. :P
...
We, of the Vast Female Conspiracy would like to see greater representation of the fairer sex in the Senate. :D

A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Noble Ire was up for the Senate the last time, wasn't he, and just barely lost out?

Seconded.

Though I support putting Pick into the Senate instead of Howedar if he's ever voted for in punishment for his complaining about our do-gooder meddlism, *grins* I will not otherwise attempt to pack the Senate.

Yeah, it's NI's turn.

A fortnight has elapsed, and we approach the end of June. Are there any more nominees?

I think everyone wants Noble Ire to have it this time, really. He does deserve it.

Too bad about Pick-- maybe next time, the W.I.T.C.H. (Women's International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell) will have it's revenge! :D
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If someone wants Pick then nominate said poster, likely as not the nod will go to Noble Ire but that shouldn't stop a nomination. (Though I'm probably speaking as a hippocrit as I though about nominating Starglider for his recent software work but hsitated based on length of membership).

It was a joke, sheesh.

We've got one nomination in Noble Ire, and shouldn't we get around to holding a vote now that it's, you know, July?

I'll put one up as soon as I have access to my voters list and can ensure we get a quorum :D
