The question before the Senate is what to do with Velthuijsen. He is guilty of repeated violations of DR5 and DR6, namely the prohibition against broken record tactics and the rule regarding claims and evidence. He is also blatantly lying about what several other posters have said and uses strawman arguments with abandon. He has also ignored several demands for evidence of his claims from no less than two supermods and also ignored no les than two warnings of what the consequences for his actions will be unless he shapes up.

I think I need to go back and read through the thread again when I'm less pressed for time. There needs to be some serious cross-referencing between page 4 and page 6, and it seems hairier than the usual argument because the ultimate conclusions are the same, so people are flaming each other for just the chain of argumentation instead of for the argument and conclusion.

I do not think that, considering the vote starter's involvement in the thread (and also considering these are DR violations), we can in good conscience ban the person in question. The violations are however egregious and repeated, and deserve some measure of response so as to demonstrate that they are not acceptable, so a VI and removal of sig/avatar privilages appears to be in order, though failing a sufficient margin of support for such an action, a VI alone will be enough.
I must vigorously oppose the idea of banning him in these circumstances, however. A severe punishment short of that, is the only thing that I can see as being justified.
