This is interesting. Ive been wondering about this for a while and now it seems to have been confirmed.

Indeed, not suprising. It really is proof of the stupidity of the racist view point.

Scientist have known about that for years now. There are greater differences within the races than there are between them.

No, you are wrong. Biologists have never cared for this, because to Biology there is no such thing as races. Its end in species, for us the Homo Spiens stuff.

Yes they have cared about this because there have always been idiots that insist that there is a difference. Someone had to do the research. As to what their motivations were, it doesn't matter. The truth speaks for itself.

Just that If I get the books of My Brother a Biologist there is nothing about race there. He , a biologist, will let clear : There is no race. So there is no point to argue. Race was made up not by the biologist and they did not needed to made any research. There was never race, they always said pigment is not enough to creat a new specie and since black dude with white girl have kids that can reproduce they never needed to do any research. even because it would be a waste to do, since racist (which are whom this import) are just bigoted anyways.

They still label genes having "amerindian ancestory" which seems at odds with the title of the article ... ?

race
n.

-A local geographic or global human population distinguished as a more or less distinct group by genetically transmitted physical characteristics.
-A group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution: the German race.
-A genealogical line; a lineage.
-Humans considered as a group.

Biology.
-An interbreeding, usually geographically isolated population of organisms differing from other populations of the same species in the frequency of hereditary traits. A race that has been given formal taxonomic recognition is known as a subspecies.
-A breed or strain, as of domestic animals.

-A distinguishing or characteristic quality, such as the flavor of a wine.
Race doesn't mean species, never did, never has. Its simply the observation that certain groups share genetically inherited features. Its a result of thousands of years of isolated populations. In the case of things like skin colour, there's a real biological reason to have a certain colour of skin. Dark skin provides protection from the sun, while in northern climites light skin is required to produce sufficient amounts of vitamin D. Its not a problem now with our varied diets, but was important thousands of years ago.

Some numbskulls obviously take these rather meaningless differences too far...

As the article suggested, population mixing has spread these genes and its increasingly becoming increasingly meaningless to use racial groupings.

The researcher's inability to determine what gene made people from Portugal have lighter skin from somone in Africa... doesn't mean that there's isn't a combination of genes that determine this. We still can't look at a genertic structure and create a computer model of that creature... so its not really surprising.

Personally i have only ever believed in one race. The Human race. Colours in my believe have more to do with evolution. In a sunny hoit country brown skin keeps you cool better etc.

The sooner man realises that we are ALL human the sooner we can colonise the galaxy, find an alien species and start a WAR with them.

"race" is simply determined by activity of melanocytes, all humans have the same amoutn, and many things are a factor (genetcis being one, but environment as well)

What would I be implying? I simply mean that there is no significant biological difference in any one of us, our differences lie in our cultures.

Be careful where you tread. A few decades ago white supremecist found that you could replace "race" with "culture" and get your racist agenda under the radar. You being a newbie, from an unknown location... well you know, I have to check.

Anthropologists and Sociologists have been angry about this for a while now too. The idea that race effects genetics is ludicrous, it's completely the opposite. Where someones parents or grandparents were from has a greater effect on their traits than race.

Untrue, both race and locations of ancestors are equally worthless.

Unless the location is very specific, ie- both father and mother grew up in the same home, as is usually the case with donkey-fucker white-supremacists.

I must disagree. How could you tell the location of the biological parents of children adopted at birth?

Well, if both parents grew up in the same home, they would have been siblings, so you could probably look for stunted growth and other signs of inbreeding.

Assuming what your being serious, that still doesn't follow. A married couple that grew up in the same household don't have to be siblings. They could be adopted, children of roommates, etc.

Look, I am taking an archaeology class right now and the main point that our anthropology prof. tries to drive home is that our differences lie only in our cultures. There is no significant biological difference between any racial group.

This is what anthropologists tend to agree on. The idea of race is a non issue. It's all about culture. Culture, by the way, exists only our minds.

Wicked Pilot, I did not follow your comment. The fact that I am new here invalidates what I have to say?

By the way, were you talking about "The Bell Curve?" That book is garbage.

You weren't here when we were invaded by the donkey-fucking white supremesist. You being new does not invalidate what you say, it's just that when someone says something that can be interpeted many ways, it helps if you know something about that person so as to put their quote in proper context. Sinse you are new, we know little about you. Are you a normal Joe who pays his taxes and helps his landlady carry out the garbage, or are you a donkey raping white supremecist? We can't tell by looking at you, only by what you have said. Does this answer your question?
