question re: loop theory and an expanding universe

Post by Feil »

I have what I think is a simple question about propositions made by Loop Theory / Loop Quantum Gravity, but I can't find a canned answer and I don't have the math and physics to extract it from the equations.

A: spacetime is composed of quanta which evolve in relation to other quantum events, not an external standard of space and time. Time and space are emergent properties of larger systems.
B: the universe expands.

Does that mean that there are more quanta of spacetime today than there were yesterday?
If so, how can one express the correlation of more-ness of spacetime quanta and today-ness without paradoxical recourse to an external standard of time?
