Some thoughts...on Christian thought

Post by RayCav of ASVS »

I remember the two weeks I actually spent attending a Christian school. I was almost kicked out of my science class for expousing the "evil thought of "evil"ultion" and I had constant thoughts about whether I would go to Hell or not for thinking about having sex with a number of female students, as well as my 25 year old teacher while at school (please note they were just THOUGHTS in case you think doing teachers is disgusting :P In addition, I find it interesting that my teacher was a complete airhead and thought that the average age of death was around 50. Quote, "at age 25 I am already half-way through my life." I also remember her talking about how bad she was at science, this was my SCIENCE teacher mind you!, and that she studied and prayed all the time and eventually passed. However, it is clear from her speach that she gives far more credit to her PRAYERS than her actual STUDYING for achieving the grades she recieved!)

In addition, I'm about to undertake "sex education" in High School. And I'm a fucking senior. Give me a break. Really, it's nothing more but a reineration of the crappy crap I recieved during 5th grade. Man, I feel like a fucking 10 year old again. I'm just pissed.

Maybe she thought she was living in sub-saharan Africa. The average lifespan there is less than 50.

And you didn't actually think a Christian school would get a REAL science teacher did you.

I remember sex-ed well. Many hours of naptime. And dreams about the more well rounded female members of my class.

I remember sex ed freshman year. They tried to tell us that porn leads to child-molestation. Um no... almost every guy looks at porn. Will a large number of them become predators? No.

My own experience in the Catholic Prison Camp I went to was somewhat different. I kid, because in actuality the Catholic Brothers were a bit more broad-minded than you'd expect. Of course, sex was supposed to be verbotten; one of those Great Mysteries reserved for the sacrament of marriage so it was only the bare mechanics, threat of disease, and DON'T DO IT. We also suspected they were a bit liberal in dosing the food with saltpeter.

Maybe the fact that I didn't eat in the cafeteria on a daily basis was one of the reasons the brainwashing didn't take. To paraphrase Jack McCoy from Law And Order, if you're raised Catholic, you either turn out obedient, or impertinent (in the series, McCoy was educated by Jesuits).

But when it came to science, the Brothers came down on the side of knowledge. One thing to say for a Catholic education is that you come out ready for university. Evolution was treated like any other branch of science, and they never tried to foist Creatinism or the faerytale of the Divine Watchmaker on us.

Even when it came to religious instruction, my Prison Camp was decidedly more broadminded than you'd find in Fundamentalist Prison Camps. In point of fact, the Brother who taught my senior religion class debunked the idea of Revelation as prophecy and introduced us to comparative theology.

But when it came to sex education, I had to find out for myself via the scientific method. Well and good as far as it went until I finally had the opportunity for actual experimentation, that is. 8)

If they won't teach you, then you've got to teach yourself and start deciding whether you can actually believe what they're trying to cram down your throat or not. But it sure as hell sounds as if the school you're in equates Faith with Ignorance and tries to intill Fear as the glue holding it together, and I think you're already figuring out that its bullshit.

Go with your instincts.

Ahh, memories. I remember back when I was in High School, and sex education was widely known as a blond cheerleader named Jackie...

Our sex ed consisted of a horrible, horrible video with 1) extreme close ups of some dude blowing his load, and 2) some woman giving birth (also with extreme close ups). Oh, and once, Mr. Parker said, "Hope is not birth control, as in, 'Oh God, I hope she's not pregnant'".

My practical sex ed was conducted by a certain neighborhood girl just discovering the joys of utter harlotry. I wonder if half the guys in my neighborhood know they've done the horizontal tango with my by proxy.

Eh, she was hot, she was eager. But now she'd be 29 or so with god knows what remaining problems, kids, or husbands. Here's my advice to you: There is at *least* ONE in every school. It's like buried pirate treasure. You know it's out there, but you don't have the goddam map, and the only guys who know aren't telling until you pour three pints o' rum down their gullets.
