Epigenetics & Artificial Wombs?

Post by Kitsune »

Artificial wombs are pretty common in science fiction
Does Epigenetics make them far less likely than they are portrayed?

Could you please expand on why you would expect this to be the case?

perhaps it'd be the opposite, since by controlling those factors it's much easier to tweak an all purpose genome to produce workers soldiers whatever.

That makes sense, actually.. assuming we can understand and catalog some of the major factors that affect gene expression, we can have "epigenetic engineering. Grow people in iron wombs with specific conditions, so that they express traits that will help them perform different roles without needing to tweak with their actual genetics.

I mean, we could do that if we were going down that morally reprehensible path. Which is terrible.
