I stumbled upon a thread on Spacebattles, where someone has found a link to a teen website with a thread on whether or not evolution should be taught in schools... be warned, this site may seriously damage your brain.

This is exactly why I think it's a waste of time to argue with these people. I don't think they're ignorant, they're just stupid. Hey, why sugarcoat the truth?

A few tidbits for your viewing pain:

should the teach evolution in schools

i think they shouldnt teach evolution in schools for 3 reasons. First off evolution is a belief, if they cant teach Christianity then how can they teach evolution. Second, evolution is not really scientific if you think about it. It defies the scientific law that states matter cannot be created nor can it be destroyed, plus science is about observing things, you cannot observe evolution. Third, evolution is not mathmatical. Math is about proving things, you cannot prove evolution. Then there is the major fact that the Bible says God created the earth and the animals and everything else.

Dude, I so agree, They have proven more facts about the bible than evolution.

I'm with ya there. They do teach ABOUT Christianity. They should apply the same principals to all faiths (yes evelution is a faith) and teach it like that.

Basically if they are going to teach evolution.. which they do at most public schools in Australia..they should teach creation as well. Evolution is a crazy theory it is defenetelly(spelling) NOT FACT!

I went there. The creationist arguments all boil down to arrogance; "I'M not descended from any monkey!" and/or "I'M one of God's Chosen because I BELIEVE, and I know exactly what God thinks, thought, will think, does, did, and will do." They also handily illustrate the execrable state of science education in this country. There's a couple rationalists on the board fighting the hoardes. One of them posted a link to Mike's Creationism site. I feel like I ought to go down there and back up my Hellbound Evil Godless Brothers, but that will be only slightly more productive than standing in the middle of the Jersey Turnpike trying to deflect tractor trailers with my mind, and probably more painful.

Just out of curiosity, I checked out some of the rest of this site. If I were those kids, I'd kill myself with a ballpeen hammer. There's the occasional interesting forum topic (how to deal with the fact that if you get good grades, people make fun of you, how to deal with bullies, that sort of thing), most of it was the worst sort of Jesus-soaked prattle you've ever laid eyes upon. What the hell kind of high school kids don't drink, swear, smoke, watch MTV, look at porn, make out with the opposite sex, etc? There was this one 12 year old who announced she's decided she's not going to kiss anyone before she gets married. Now, I can see some reasons for not FUCKING anyone before marriage, but she plans on not KISSING anyone until God knows when. And a bunch of other teenaged girls posted their support. It makes me sad, really. These kids are going to grow up thinking anything that's fun is wrong, and they're going to miss their chance to do stupid shit when there's still no consequences for it.

You know what I hope? I hope that 13 year old grows up and meets a guy, in college or something, who's loving and committed and disease free, and they fuck each other's brains out for YEARS before they even consider getting married. And I hope she gets tattoos on that little patch of skin right above where your spine meets your ass, and nipple piercings, and smokes marijuana and drinks Southern Comfort and still gets good grades and eventually mellows out into a happy, well adjusted middle aged woman. Just to serve as a living example to the world that you don't need to be a dour, sanctimonious jerk with the Book of Leviticus committed to memory to be happy--quite the opposite in fact. And if there is a God and a heaven, I hope when she gets there God says, "You were nice to other people and you lived the best life you could. Welcome", and the fundy behind her gets, "You were a self important asshole who used My name to make My children feel guilty about enjoying the life that I gave them. Here's a jumbo sized bottle of K.C. Masterpiece and a 7 foot kabob. Lucifer's already waiting with the lighter fluid."

12 years old and she's basically sworn off making out, which is around #6 or so on the list of all time most fun things a normal human can do in their everyday lives. For ome reason, this has really depressed me. I gotta go look at some porno now, to wash the fundy mold out of my brain.

oh yeah- dinosuars couln't have survived after the flood because all the water from the flood came from a giant bubble of water around the earth that gave it a sort of greenhouse effect and the oxygen content was very high. the dinosaurs nostils were so small that it couldn't have gotten enough oxygen to survive after the flood. that is why Noah didn't take them on the ark. Love in Him!

I once compared teaching Creationism in schools to telling kids that "it rans when God cries". Whoever said "won't apes be turning into humans right now" should seek professional help. Evolution happens over millions of years, and-
