He'll be like the milkman, and the children will follow the truck down the street, laughing and frolicking. Can only imagine the big doll on top of that truck.
Even still, how do they expect to be able to find the employers of people when all they have is a liscence plate, and possibly a vague physical description? Surely you need at least a name, address, and reason to do a background check on someone.

You're assuming that everyone looks at porn now. Surprise surprise, some of us take our faith seriously.Montcalm wrote:I think i know why they do this, they just want to show us that we don`t need to walk or drive miles to get porn, like them we should have it delivered to our door in brown paper bags.Darth Wong wrote:They figure it will work because they assume that most customers of porn shops are like them: embarrassed and uncomfortable about sex and everything associated with it.
Now, I do not support this action. They're just making themselves look stupid, and doing a fine job of it. I personally think that this sort of thing is contrary to what Christians should do. But there's no need for extra defamation of character from you. There's plenty enough for you to laugh at already.

this is the kind of thing that made me stop claiming to be a Christian(not wanting to be associated with people like that) before i actually started thinking for myself about religion.
I'm no longer a Christian in any sense of the word, not quite an atheist tho.
I have nothing against Christians, untill they start doing things like this, and then it doesn't extend to the entire religion just the idiots doing this stupid shit and making the rest look bad.
the thing with some Christains pulling shit like "Operation Daniel" is it makes ALL Christains look bad. Most people don't make the distinction between fanatics like that and the rest of the religion(as far as people i know anyway)

Yeah, but it would be a pretty effective tactic if they mailed your boss the information, at least in certain parts of the United States. Although the certainly couldn't legitamately fire you, there are always ways that a boss can get rid of one of his employees if he is determined enough. For some employers, purchasing porn is all the reason they need.Darth Wong wrote:They figure it will work because they assume that most customers of porn shops are like them: embarrassed and uncomfortable about sex and everything associated with it.
If I saw someone like that, I would rent twice as much porn, show him, and tell him that his self-righteous bullshit inspired me to do so.
I walk up to a store to buy some quality porn...
Fundie: You're buying pornography. That's immoral
Me: Go f**k yourself
Fundie: I'm going to write down your license plate number and let your boss know that you're an obscene pervert for buying pornography.
Me: Go ahead. My boss is the one who told me about this place.

They're fundies. What do you expect? The Aliens wrote:And of course you can sue for unfair dismissal, so long as you have your place of work written on your liscence plate. Not only is a bad idea and ineffective tactic, its also stunningly poorly thought out.

The Problem: Evil Fundies trying to stop you from getting Porn
Solution: Deliver porn to everyone's house, that way you can't be embarassed because everyone's getting it!

I was just thinking, I'd buy a bunch of really cheap porn, and when the protestors are not looking I'd slip it into their vehicles. You know how some people keep their windows cracked if it's hot outside. Let's just say their wives might find it hard rationalize away the gay porno found in the back seat of their husband's car.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

According to the US Congress report on the subject, pornographic videos are a seventy billion dollar a year business in the US. I doubt that this is all due to the 5% of the population that is openly atheist. Most Christian men rent porn too.The Kernel wrote:Yeah, but it would be a pretty effective tactic if they mailed your boss the information, at least in certain parts of the United States. If you're doing it using work computers a lot of businesses will get pretty pissed at you (which is also unfair since they generally don't mind if you're surfing CNN's website), but even a typical business dominated by Christians is not going to be so unreasonable as to fire you because you rented blue movies on the weekend and watched them at home. I imagine there are some businesses like that, but $70 Billion is a number which suggests that the anti-porn tendencies of American Christians are somewhat exaggerated.

[STUPID FUNDIE]Oh! But god created biology 6 000 years ago- and not just any god, the Christian god! That means al the wicked prono buyers are just denying their love for god![/FUNDIE]Wicked Pilot wrote:Pitting Christianity against biology is not a fair fight.
These people need to grow brainstems, before the stupidity of their plot comes back to destroy them. I'd love to see the faces at the police station, "You want to run a background check on someone's liscence plate because he was buying legal, adult porn from a registered video vendor?"

It does make us all look bad. It angers me when I'm associated with that lot. The difference between your case and mine is the way we handled it. Rather than hide my faith, I make certain that everybody knows I'm a Christian, and then proceed to not engage in fundie behavior. It usually doesn't take too long for people to figure out that I'm not a raving Jack Chick follower, and then I'm left alone. I hope to make people think better of Christianity through example, but it takes a lot of example to counteract the damage that the fundies are constantly doing. :exasperated: (We really need a smiley for that.)LadyAmanda wrote:this is the kind of thing that made me stop claiming to be a Christian(not wanting to be associated with people like that) before i actually started thinking for myself about religion.Rogue 9 wrote:You're assuming that everyone looks at porn now. I don't hide my faith i just no longer have any faith in the Christian God.(life experiences have taught me not to have faith in very many things, be it God or other people).Rogue 9 wrote: It does make us all look bad. actually i didn't hide my faith at that time either i just didn't claim to be a christian i'd talk to anyone who wanted to hear it about what i believed. i never "hid" my faith when i still had it.

yeah, I remember my senior year in high school. they tried something like that. And then my whole social science class walks in. Why? it was the only store in town that carried Pravda, and half a dozen other foriegn newspapers needed for a class assignment. so us 18 year olds went into the store to buy Commie pamphelts and got pelted with chick tracks. 9really funny as the porno store had all the chick tracks next to the tiajana bibles0
