What is it called when someone makes an unsolicited declaration about their character in the midst of a conversation that wasn't focused on it? You know, this sort of thing:
Collin: Well, the gay rights movement is finally getting some traction and much-needed respect. Hell, when Albania is tabling a gay marriage recognition bill, you know things are improving. People are finally starting to become comfortable with homosexuals in their company.
Charlie: Yeah, well fine, but I'M NOT GAY! Not at all!
Collin: I never said-
Charlie: I went out with Kendra for eight months, remember? NOT GAY!
Collin: You need to calm down-
Charlie: Do I look like some kind of faggot to you? I'm all fucking man!
Collin obviously wasn't trying to "out" any suspected homosexuality in his friend Charlie, but after that outburst, he's definitely under suspicion of some kind of discomfort about homosexuality. And that's just a totally made up example, of course; what I just was a party to was more akin to a small kid defiantly pouting "I don't CARE!" ad nauseum while choking back tears.
I'm just wondering, does this have a name?

Suspiciously specific denial.

Shakespeare said it best. "Methinks the lady doth protest too much."
