I like Fractal's version though, it is nice sleek and clean. Evilejedi's is nice enough for a kitbash, but I don't think the lines are as aesthetically pleasing.

Ah well.... I never really thought highly of the freak artist accident called Anon 3 anyway.

By the way, I like how the underside of Crv 2 is turning out. Does that ship have a name yet?

That's a new turret design, is it not? Is it a different weapon fit or are you envisioning it as a more primitive, Clone War-era design?

The eagle-eyed may recognize it as the heavy ion turret of the ISDI :)

anyway, curious to see how fractal's comes out. Anon#3 has been an annoyance for years.
Yeah "visually" that version is MUCH easier on the eyes. I like also how you melded the two parts together with the end bits. Obviouslly Anon3 DOES have some sort of middle tower section, who knows for sure what that beast looks like. But if doing something that wasn't totally 'faithful' the above version actually looks quite wicked.

On Fractals end of things, well I don't know if I have ever seen an ISD that was ever that WIDE. The width of the wedge seems massive. Though I will say your detailing, as ever, is amazing. I love the round Ion turret (I am guessing that is what it is) harkens back to the original Heavy Ion cannons on the ISD Mk1

^Well, there is Giel's flagship/carrier variant, which is very wide relative to length.

I never name ships until they are done.

I'm thinking the circled things are semi-exposed neutrino radiators. I believe the similar structures on the Venator are unlabeled in the ICS.

Always wondered what those were.

I think the heavy ion turret would look better if it was moved inwards slightly; it strikes me as a tad close to the edge of the terrace. Not good for fitting armour, bracing etc.

Really like the bow guns man. Great job.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

A question, fractal.

Given the wideness of this ship, I would assume that the excess space is used for fighters, troop transports and cargo space. Which one will you go?

The plan is to have two big trench hangars (each ~ 2x the area of the main ISD bay) to each side of a ventral center spine. 6-8 wings starfighter complement but still the standard legion. A heavy carrier emphasis is a given from the choice of the Venator-style tower, and the big surface area provided by the swallowtail helps.

I'm going with the idea that this is basically a high-acceleration complement to the Allegiance for fleet work. Originally, possibly a late Clone Wars development of the Venator concept of multirole carrier-destroyer.

It'll have the fighters and electronics to serve as a coordination and support ship for the swarms of bayless escorts, plus the speed, sensors, and individual superiority over line destroyers to act as reconnaissance/pursuit ship to act with light ship detachments. When it is present in colonial forces, it becomes a natural flagship. Operating independently, it's a natural pursuit vessel.

What dimensions are you thinking the ship will have? From the look it, it should be longer than the standard Venator and possibly longer than the ISD.

Are you planning on having the bridge module to be its own ship, so that it can detach in emergencies? Like the Executor bridge etc?

Someone on another board said the modules always reminded him of a Carrack...

I don't know about the separation idea for the whole module - all the electronics and sensors and cooling/bracing for same that plug into the module doesn't seem like it would lend itself well to separation without dangerous and unpredictable things like large-scale explosives. I would guess that in a ship built for speed, the designers, especially working for the empire, wouldn't compromise lethality by devoting weight or emphasis from other systems into making the module separable, especially since so few crew would be in there anyway (bridge staff, sensor teams, primary flight control, some security).

It DOES kind of look like a Carrack, though that is not hard as the Carrack shape is a sort of Generic brick like ship design that resembles many scifi ships. Which is odd since both the Carrack and the Old Republic Dreadnaught are two of my favorite EU ship designes.

I guess its perhaps that are more 'normal' that I like them, they arn't superships, or 'hero' ships, or one of a kinds. But tough, heardy, purpose built ships that do a lot of duty and see a lot of action :)

I like how you have the shield generators embedded. Would be a nifty/smart design move in my opinion to do that to all the SDs.

Yeah, I like how you made a cross between the Sensor disk things on the Venator and the Sensor globes on the later SDs
