See, even a semi-competent attack would see to contaminate over 500 000 square kilometers, and it's very well feasible with biological agents - each dispersal agent streaking through 100 km at 50 m altitude, which is what I did, would contaminate thousands of square kilometers. My attack alone could possibly contaminate 400 000 square kilometers!

Yeah, some agents would wear out, but the massive death of livestock at the very least is inevitable. Crop blights and so one.

Once you are talking about the nations entire territory contaminated, what's really left? (1) Developed immunity (2) Vaccination. In case neither works, lethality may reach very high figures.

Besides the unrealistic case of people surviving after massive dispersal of agents over their territory with concentrations over 100 grams per square kilometer, if we admit Astaria and Shepistan have only 10-20% of population surviving in secluded rural areas and only due to the superlethality of agents, which prevented further spread... there's no way those nations will be back in game. At all.

Incidentally, Skimmer's comments on anthrax not being scary are bullshit. There's 0,1 milligram (0,0001 gram) of anthrax per square meter in the contaminated territory, which is according to the inhalation calculator used by WMD Defense Manual, well enough to cause a man to get sick in ~60 minutes. Therefore, one can only operate in NBC gear in those territories, and preferrably heavily vaccinated against the strains used.

The CSR could offer some anti-anthrax vaccines covertly, now that it's known that Shepistan can no longer exist.

Just FYI even if Astaria is gone there's still South Velaria, which for reasons I've explained wouldn't be easily overrun. Thus I think Sirnoth would take over there. Any military assets (airplanes, ships, subs, etc) that could be safely evacuated from Astaria would also be there.
