United Flight Industries Wins Contract on MUAV


United Flight Industries, subsidary of the FORMOSA Initiative has won the contract of manufacturing the Hawkeye MUAV for the ROM military. It is speculated that the Military Police will be issued with 2 per company while an unspecified number will be issued to the Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Army. Colonel Lei, spokesman of the Military Police said that the Hawkeye would be very helpful in search-and-hunt missions, especially in the mountains and the rocky eastern coastlines of the island.

The United Flight Industries spokesman was reluctant to comment on the contract, only saying, "Good, good, thank you."

Former Shinra Frigate Joins Mangka Fleet


The former SRS Hydra (FFH 884) arrives in Mangka.

The SRS Hydra (FFH 884) has today been officially transferred to the Republic of Mangka. This intra-MESS transfer was done as part of an alliance-wide effort to combat the corruption that has long plauged the Republic's government.

No word has been received yet from the Mangkan government over what the new name of the frigate would be, though Shinra Navy officials have stated a desire for it to be changed, as the name "Hydra" will likely be reused for the new Fortuna-class ships.

Gorgon Class Frigate MNS "Windrider" Commisioned

[Kamalan] President Y.G. Ma and Vice President Yuki Amami both attended the commissioning ceremony for the Navy's new Windrider-class frigate yesterday.

In the ceremony, Ma expressed appreciation to the Rufus administration for approving the transfer of the Gorgon Class frigate Hydra, now commissioned as the Windrider Class Frigate MNS Windrider. The Windrider will be home-ported in Kamalan. The MNS Serpent, on the other hand, will still be home ported at Shingang, with the other 40 Guanhua VI craft in between patrolling the Mangka seas.

Around 9:45am, a 21-gun salute was fired from as the national anthem played in the background. Hundreds of sailors from the crews of the Windrider stood at attention.

The President congratulated the sailors for their hard work, saying they had completed the necessary skills and training in the Shinra Republic to get the ships underway.

Some reporters speculated that with the name "Windrider" there might be plans for another ship termed "Wavebreaker" as in the phrase "Cheng Feng Po Lang" (Ride the winds, break the waves). The Naval Fleet Command Headquarters Spokesman Rear Admiral C.C. Liou commented that "It's a nice guess, just that."

Official order for 10 F-100 (Basil II) frigates issued to Constantinople Shipyards.

To be completed next year, the order of 10 F-100 Basil II frigates was issued to replace the existing Halifax frigates. The existing Halifax frigates will either be scraped or sold or relegated to ASW duties over the next few years.

Government orders more S-300 and Buk-M1-2 in a bid to boost air defence.

More S-300 and Buk-M1-2 regiments will be assembled over the next few years. It is expected that 2 S-300 regiments will be completed this year, while more Buk-M1-2 will be assigned to the various divisions. The government is understood to be undertaking a massive project to intergrate all the available air defence assets into one single network.

Government plans to construct a sea platform that will launch rockets into space.

The Government has been working with Red Technocracy to invest in a sea platform that can launch rockets into space. The platform will be constructed by Constantinople Shipyards and the rockets purchased from Red Technocracy.

It looked a little bit comical as the King walked through the terminal while reading a report, with a host of aides following him, every single one taking instructions and writing them down. It seemed as if the King's duties tried to chase him down before he left.

"What the hell were those Langley marines thinking?", the King muttered to himself and handed the report back to one of the aides

"You know, all things considered, I wonder what is the purpose behind Coilerburg's mobilization. We'll need to kepp closer tabs on them.", he said to the Foreign Minister, "See to it that it's done."

The King finally reached the customs area. The guards saluted as he passed, but checked his luggage nevertheless.

"That's all, people. This visit will look comical if you all try to have me run the country from Shinra. A daily briefing will have to do."

His aides backed off. Finally.

He walked through the gates and kissed his wife. The people around the place smiled, some waved. A young child tried to pull his trouser leg, but was spirited away by her parents.

The King smiled and waved back as he, his wife and the rest of the delegation boarded the chartered airliner to Shinra. For quite some time, the people waiting at the gate would have a great story to tell at family dinners.

King Paul I leaves for Shinra Republic

The King has boarded an airliner and left for the Shinra Republic today, on his long-planned state visit. The Royal Office has assured our reporters that all domestic matters will be taken care of in the King's absence.

The King has planned a courtesy visit to the Shinra Republic since before the Nuclear Crisis, however the obvious problems have delayed it. President Rufus Shinra has extended the invitation again this year, which prompted the King to finally visit one of PeZookia's closest neighbors and allies.

The itinerary of the visit has not yet been disclosed, however we know from certain sources that the King will meet with several Shinra rangers, visit the ISCA shipyards and speak with Sultan Ibrahim of Libertia, who is visiting Shinra right now.

Ministry of Defence announces purchases for FY2011

The Ministry of Defence has announced that the pre-crisis expansion plan has been kept, modified slightly to account for delays caused by a near-nuclear war.

The purchases will include 12 Mig-29 jet fighters to bolster PeZookia's air defence, as well as helicopters, gunships and aerial tankers necessary to reform the 1st Independent Airmobile Company into an airmobile batallion.

"The Company has proved itself as a concept, being able to react to the coup attempt from the Shinra Republic ; But if we are to truly commit to creating the FART, we'll need at least a batallion. I have to thank the Red Technocracy here, who is financing quite a bit of the equipment purchase necessary to make the batallion a worthwhile fighting force."

This year's policy initiatives were announced today. New defense projects dominated the budget, requiring significant loans to finance. The air defense network was slated for continued upgrades, as was the civil defense network. Big new purchases included a Minesweeper/Frigate from Byzantium and a type 212 submarine from the Shinra Republic. Indhopal planned to purchase one of each such vessels a year for three years. Six F-18's were also purchased from Shroomania and had already been delivered.

The deal made with the Shinra Republic to developed Indhopal's gold and other mineral reserves was also announced. The terms were unusually generous to Indhopal and the parliament was happy to announce that local labor would be used whenever possible. Bearne was also part of the project, and exchange programs with universities in Indhopal were also announced. The educational and health programs would also continue, though planned increases in their budget would have to be delayed. A program was also announced to start transitioning Indhopal's power generation to greener sources.

A ceremony was also held honoring ProTec employees who have died while on assignment in Libertopia and in East Neverhood. Members of the Alexandrian military also participated at ceremonies that took place at ProTec bases in Libertopia.

In Business news, Indhopal continues to add small specialist industries to its economy. Besides custom small arms and body amour industries, new start ups are also marketing scuba and other underwater gear for the military and civilian markets. Up armoring civilian vehicles and other such security services have also started their share of small businesses. Perhaps the biggest new corporation in Indhopal would be WindCorp, which is all about building wind turbines.

The Diplomatic Corps, under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry, has released information that it will seek permission from Coilerburg's government to establish an embassy in the nation's capital city.

"PeZookia feels that an embassy there will prove to be most useful in building good relations and helping maintain world peace.", said the Foreign Minister when asked to comment on the issue.

Our reporters have managed to secure a list of proposed embassy delegates, including such well-known names as Olgierd Szewerewski, an experienced PeZookian diplomat with posts in the Shinra Republic and the Red Technocracy under his belt, and Lt. Byzantium's tank factories have been on low production rate of a few vehicles a month for the last two years just so to make sure the factories do not get shut down altogether and to provide spares for the military. Some 24 T-90s and 120 BTR-90s will be taken from storage and sold to Coilerburg for firesale prices of 1 million each for the T-90 and 500,000 for the BTR-90. Construction teams fly to Coilerburg to survey possible construction sites for PeZookian embassy

Several teams of engineers and construction specialists have been flown to Coilerurg to co-operate with local authorities in staking out the best spot for construction of a brand-new embassy building. The Diplomatic Corps will construct a modestly-sized building, which is planned to house around 20 embassy personell in total. Construction is estimated to take between five and six months.

The II Republic of PeZookia royal delgation arrives at Midgar International.

In the early morning hours of a cold winter morning, the II Republic of PeZookia's soverign, King Paul I arrived today in the Shinra Republic for an official state visit and vacation. President Shinra was present to personally greet the King and Queen upon their arrival. Aides from both governments have stated that the President and King and Queen will visit with the soldiers and families of the 10th Ranger Regiment and 1st Special Forces Group, including the families of the three slain soldiers from Operation Archangel. Later on they will attend a lunch with Sultan Ibrahim of the Sultanate of Terra Libertia, after which will be some sightseeing around Midgar, followed by a private dinner between the President and royal party.

President Rufus Shinra was at the bottom of the stairs as King Paul I and Queen Agatha disembarked from their chartered airliner.

"Your Majesties," he intoned, as he gave a formal bow, and then shook the hand of King Paul. "It's great to meet you when the world isn't at stake, my friend." He smiled and turned to Queen Agatha, and took her hand and gave it a formal kiss. "And a pleasure to finally meet you at last, your majesty. From what I have heard, the King is supremely blessed to have a wife as brave, compassionate, and beautiful as you."

The Queen smiled, royally, and answered the President.

"And the Shinra Republic has the doubtless honor of being led by a man of kindness, honor and devotion to his people. This visit was long overdue."

The King then greeted president Shinra, and introduced the delegation.

"Please meet the rest of our delegation. This is Robert Brycz, my senior policy advisor", the King motioned towards a short, balding man who nevertheless seemed very intelligent and energetic, "...and colonel Jan Toberz, the senior military advisor.", the second man was tall and muscular.

"And, of course, miss Kamila Brzozowska, head of ceremony and senior executive assistant.", the last senior delegation member was a pretty brunette, dressed smartly in a gray business suit.

"I hope this will be a most productive visit. My wife and I cannot wait to see the Shinra Republic."

While the King and Pezookia and the President of Shinra had an extremely packed diplomatic Schedule, the ambassador from Indhopal was able to get a meeting with the two leaders. He promised Indhopal's foreign minister would be there in Person. She wanted to discuss possible non aggression and defense pacts with the two nations and wanted to hear from Pezookia where Indhopal's FUN membership application was going. It was widely said to be dead by pundits. The ambassador had requested the Shroomanian ambassador to attend as well to give that nations take on possible mutual defense agreements.

Economic issues were also up for discussion, but it was not anticipated that there would be enough time to discuss them in depth.

"They'll be glad to see you, Paul." Rufus paused, and smiled. "You know, this got them out of morning PT. Given who they are, I'm not sure whether that was a good or bad thing."

The three of them laughed at that: elite soldiers were a different breed, after all. President Shinra then picked back up, "Oh, and I heard from the Regiment's CO that there was a suggestion that maybe the King would like to take a 'light' run with them? Six miles, full gear. Nothing major, of course." Despite his best efforts, Rufus couldn't quite keep a straight face. He was still a little surprised one of the Rangers had been ballsy enough to suggest it.

Paul looked dubious, and shook his head. "I'm afraid I'll have to decline. I used to run three miles, with no gear. And busted my ankle."

"Well I'm sure they'll live with their disappointment, dear," Queen Agatha smiled.

"They're tough. I think they'll manage," Rufus commented, no longer bothering to restrain his amusement.

They continued on, looking out over the beautiful countryside as they left Midgar proper. They continued to make idle chatter, enjoying this brief moment of peace and relaxation.

In the second limo, Presidential Chief of Staff Brian Sinclair thanked the person on the other end of the line, and hung up the phone.

"Well Miss Brzozowska, it seems the Indhopal ambassador wants an audience."

"Today? We have a pretty tight schedule," replied Kamila.

"I know. Really the only time we could do it is during the sightseeing after the meeting with Ibrahim. But I'd rather not cut into that; the President doesn't get many chances to just get out and look around."

"Hmmm," Kamila thought to herself. From what she knew of President Shinra and King Paul, they would likely give up on their own small pleasures to put business first. But then, sometimes those close to them have to save them from themselves. She looked up at Sinclair, and smiled. "I can't possibly see how we can fit them in today, Mister Sinclair. Maybe tomorrow?"

Sinclair smiled and nodded, "I agree, Miss Brzozowska. We'll have to put it off until tomorrow." The Chief of Staff picked up the phone, dialed a number, and sent the word.

The motorcade rolled through the gate of the Army base, with dress-uniformed soldiers saluting smartly. The delegation was wheeled to a viewing stand, in front of which the entire 10th Rangers and 1s Special Operations Group was readying for a parade drill, while BBC and ShroomSatTV cameras focused on the scene.

As both heads of state and their aides took their places, the officer in charge shouted orders.

"10th Rangers Regiment ready for inspection!"

All the soldiers wore their dress uniforms and stood in immaculate formations. President Shinra and King Paul started walking down the line.

Occasionally, King Paul would stop and say a few words to some of the troopers. He shook hands with several privates and NCOs, thanking them personally for their help in the Astoria Hostage Crisis and the latest coup attempt.

Families of the three soldiers slain during Archangel were waiting at the end of the line, cautioned to wait their turn. Upon seeing them, however, the King excused himself from the inspection and walked over.

Bodyguards and ceremony keepers seemed surprised, but adjusted accordingly.

King Paul shook the hands of some of these people, and hugged one of the widows, who couldn't speak and started sobbing uncontrollably. Minutes passed, as the sovereign talked with the families. TV commenters hushed their voices...flags waved in the wind.

"I am sorry you had to go through this. There are no words which can explain your pain...and there none which can say how much PeZookia owes you...please, if there is anything we can do..."

The families seemed happy with this simple human gesture. The King talked with them for several minutes. When he finished, he walked back to the podium and spoke to the gathered.

"Soldiers of the Shinra Republic...I stand before you today bringing thanks from my people. To all of you who, in a simple expression of human kindness, risked all in order to rescue people you have never seen before.

Friendship between countries is not that different from friendships between individuals. Both require trust, commitment and honor in mutual contact. Both require sacrifice from both sides.

PeZookia has a debt to the Shinra Republic which it cannot repay - but, in particular, we owe this debt to brave, honorable people like you. Some of you have made the ultimate sacrifice for this friendship...and for this, they will never be forgotten. PeZookia will do everything it can to repay this debt, and to maintain the beautiful friendship which has flourished between our people. Finishing his speech, the King saluted the gathered troops and families of the deceased.

President Shinra looked on, and he strongly suspected the brief shiver that ran down his body was caused by more than the cool wintery air. King Paul's hugging of the family members and his speech had had an effect on everyone assembled; even the tough, veteran Rangers and Special Forces soldiers were finding it tough to maintain their military bearing.

As King Paul stepped back from the podium to rejoin his wife, the officers issued their commands, and the entire formation marched sharply in a Pass in Review past the assembled families and leaders.

Once they had marched out of sight, everyone assembled began to head to the base gymanisum. The reception was to be held there, and while planners might have wanted a more formal setting, the simple fact was that nowhere else had the space to really fit everybody in.

And besides, mused Rufus, I think the soldiers will prefer the more laid back setting of the gym anyway.

Coilerburg makes proposition to buy Red Technocracy artillery pieces

The arms purchase from Byzantium covered the Coilerburg Army's tank and personnel carrier needs, but artillery pieces still remain to be bought. Because of fears that the economy will collapse if more money is spent, Coilerburg has chosen a source of artillery that is undoubtedly cheap-the now outdated artillery pieces held in the Red Technocracy's State Defense Reserve.

Coilerburg has contacted the Red Technocracy government about its desire to buy both towed and self-propelled artillery pieces, and hopes that purchasing negotiations will begin soon.

When criticized about deliberately purchasing outdated artillery, PFL Iler declared "As long it can shoot far enough, an artillery piece is never truly obsolete."

Royal Areospace Reserch Headquarters: Zortopolis-RAR President Stuart Williams anounded today that Zoria has once again gotten a space program beyond the manufacturing of Probes, with the once silenced Manned Space Craft Program. The Program laid out by the Zorian Government calls for a reusable launch vehicle capable of reaching low orbit in a new Project dubbed TITAN.

Using data collected from the cancelled Conquest Project recovered from Shepnukistan via Zorian engineers who left the nation after the recall, Zoria has plans to re-initialize the conquest program, using the base at Comona Island as a spaceport, as well as a testground and development center. Two were blown up in their own cars, another was shot several times at close range with a silenced pistol and the fourth was killed in a traffic “accident.” The fifth target went to ground and eluded Project Treadstone for the time being.

The attacks against the Free Hand Brigand were nothing less than a covert war. Whenever a cell or suspected cell was uncovered, Project Treadstone operatives took it out. They attempted to use their own Intel sources whenever possible, such as paid informants and the like.

Construction of Imperial palace begins

The construction of the new Imperial Palace began today, it will be constructed on the same place as the old one. The palace will contain the statue of God Emperor Shady which shall be placed on the roof.

New branch of the Imperial Military formed

The God Emperor Shady I, announced today the formation of a new special forces unit. The new unit shall be called the Black Hand and will consist of the most experienced members of the imperial military. Rumors are circulating that the Black Hand will soon depart for the Red Technocracy to train with the local Spetnaz, it is also possible that they will spend some time in Shroomania and train with the Mushroom Marines. The commander of this new unit is Commissar Haris.
