I believe that carrier is the one I sold him, a few years back. So I imagine by now he's got it in service.

Anyway, Wiki question for those using it:

I set up my page so that my Navy and Army pages are a subsection of my main page (Shinra_Republic/Navy) and I see Karmic did the same (as did Ryan, with his ship types). But Coyote made his seperate pages, and Fin even made an independent economy page. So, for the sake of uniformity, I want some feedback on how we should handle these sorts of things. Top level pages or subpages?

Figured I’d run some things past you all before I post it. Before I had to leave the game, Indhopal's navy was expanding heavily into submarines. Talking with Seigetank about the amount of subs the FTO was making before its demise, it would seem reasonable that Indhopal could have 6 vigilant class SSGN's and 2 Barracuda SSN's, as these programs were a priority for Indhopal. Another 16 or so type 212 subs would also be reasonable.

I won't say a bunch of subs appear in my inventory if people don't like it, but these numbers are logical given what San Dorado acquired and this was a joint project.

I also had 6 Standard class destroyers on order when I left, so those should also be added to my inventory.

The air force is as big as it was going to get, so no new acquisition maybe just upgrades to keep them current with new developments. Same with the army. The military is one thing the parliament was able at least keep moving forward.

Thoughts?

That's alright.

EDIT:

God DAMN you MESSheads are fucking devious, you know that!

You blow up the Costa into a war so EVERYONE ends up being SRS BSNSS!

As a result, all my MAD SCHEMES for Mongol Warriors and Golden Hordes in Khitan have been delayed! I can't write any of that if I'm busy going all geopolitical and all that, can I? Damn!

Yes. By sparking a war, you have stemmed the tide of my dickeries and inanities. Damn you all!

:P

(Seriously. Instead of writing stuff about Mongols and Khan Alans, I'm totally sidetracked by this serious stuff. Man, this sucks!)

Coyote, your Wiki formatting makes me want to cry. I went to fix it up, but then you went and added shit, so all my formatting changes were lost unless I replaced your stuff wholesale.

So you got to keep your changes. But now I'm going to lock editing to me only until I go through and fix your formatting...again.

Because seriously, it's horrible.

EDIT: Holy shit, your Katangwa Free State one is just as bad. That's it, no more creating articles for you!

I don't get it. They look fine to me.

Bear in mind I typically splat the page on there with raw information and then go back to fix it later. But I had no idea why the "formatting is messed up" (?). I only saw a couple changes you made. WTF is going on?

Basically, capitalizing every letter in your headers and a bunch of excessive paragraph space. It makes me a sad puppy when I look at it.

The reason I locked it is, as I said, when I went to change all that you'd gone and made an edit so I lost my changes (as I didn't want to delete yours). So I locked it so I can make those changes again. Once I'm done I'll unlock it.

Think of it as a temp-lock to split posts used on here.

EDIT: You want to fix all that, shoot me a PM (on here) and I'll let you do it.

By the way, the paragraph space I'm talking about is this:

Code: Select all

line o' text 1

line o' text 2
This is good.

Code: Select all

line o' text 1

line o' text 2
This makes RogueIce cry.

Oh, OK. I was starting to go back and eliminate some of the excessive paragraph spacing myself. I was just primarily concerned with getting the information on the pages first and foremost and prettifying later. I still have a lot more to add with the RAF, for example, and so on. I'm going to try to make a map as well, yadda yadda.

As for categories--

I was going with separate pages because that's who they do it in th e"real" Wiki, where nations typically have separate pages devoted to the armed forces branches. If we want to make them sub-pages of the main entry, that's fine so long as we're all consistent.

The following categories should be used to subdivide:

Nations by Continent (Old Continent, Frquesue, etc)
Nations by Affiliation (MESS, CATO, FTO) and by Observer Affiliation.
Nations by Player or NPC status.

Militaries in general
Militaries by Affiliation (MESS, CATO, FTO, etc)

I was going to add a page with a more in-depth look into the different Canissian Provinces and what they're based on IRL, and a cast of characters so people can refer to things and people properly. But that was once things got done with the raw information.

If you mean the bobbly bit under the 'Q' in 'Frequesue', then you might be in luck, because the North Frequesuan Coast Guard has a base in exactly that spot (there are four such bases evenly spaced along the coast; one in San Dorado, one in the Wilderness, one in Sabika and one in Coilerburg). We could probably involve you if you want to expand what is essentially a small naval base into a port city, and you wouldn't have to start from scratch (although I'm honestly wondering what possible use it would be to build a city there).

A couple notes about the Canissian astronaut and now the San Dorado tycoons coming down in inner Veleria.

A) "Inner" Veleria is a pretty large place, so it's entirely probably they didn't land anywhere near each other.

B) Frankly I was preparing to post Cascadia having tracked the Silver Streak and preparing a mission to recover it. We have posts all along northern Veleria after all complete with radar stations.

His stuff with Gero isn't public. So I can hardly respond to that. Not without taking OOC information IU, which is Bad Manners.

So it was basically in reference to comments made about how all we sent were "warships" while CATO sent "humanitarian aid" (which happened to be escorted by warships, but that part wasn't mentioned).

EDIT: Speaking of which, is Prime Minister "I'm pissed at the MESS" Shroom ever going to visit, well, the MESS? Or has he called that off? My staffers wish to know. :)

The President of the Shinra Republic can hardly indulge himself in that kind of rhetoric. It would be highly unprofessional, to say the least.

Besides, Coyote and now Karmic have done the hyperbole well enough on their own. We all have our strengths, after all.

Again, you don't have to attend the ceasefire talks. And given the situation embarking on a state visit tour in Messica is quite advisable.

Remember, my inflammatory rhetoric posts were from media outlets-- one of which was openly a far-right wing nutcase tabloid that described how to make tinfoil hats.

The only time the King ever made any "official" pronouncements they were careful, neutral, and respectful. The media and "unnamed sources" stir shit for ratings. I'm role-playing an entire nation, remember, which includes paranoids and conspiracy theorists, and people just trying to spin a buck from stirring hyperbole.

Not everything I post is the "official word"! Only if it comes from the King, or sometimes a public statement from the Parliament, a General, or other government official.

Got my own info articles up, including an incomplete history article, a milorbat article (with Rogue's help!), and attached to the OrBat article, the specific naval structure one showing what commands my ships are assigned to.
