Looks like the "Olympus has Fallen" bit has kicked off, excellent.

Incidentally, it was Hephaestus that suffered the terrorist attack, not Paradise City.

I hope we get some actual description of what's going on, though; whose bailiwick would that be?

The same thing Fin and Siege said to Force Lord applies here; if I don't know what's happening in reasonably specific terms, I can't write my own people reacting to it.

Indeed.

Also, a little fluff piece about Orion's efforts to fight smuggling and the drug trade on the high seas.

Er... are you involved in writing the attack? I was kind of hoping you were, or knew who was seiing as how it's your country.

I was planning on being involved, but I expected there to be some more discussion in this thread before we actually kicked it off.

Shinn is running the show as far as I'm concerned, madd0ct0r and I just posted what we had prepared. Which was technically supposed to be posted after things kicked off, but that was also supposed to happen last weekend, and I have other things to get done too. I don't feel like stalling the conference any longer.

Hm. If Shinn isn't ready, maybe we could have the conference just resolve itself and get out of town before the terrorists get their shit together and launch the attack. That would be funny. :D

[This would sort of invalidate the last bit of your post with maddoc, but I doubt either of you would be too distressed by that]

So... forward the conference!

EDIT: Hm, should we start a second commentary thread?

Have we actually decided what the result is? Umeria's proposal is on the table, with Orion's support, will everyone agree to it? If so, we can write up a voting post and end the conference, and we can proceed with more madness.

That might actually be best done in OOC in the interests of speed- if anyone has a foreseeable objection that might be addressed in good faith, we could deliberately adjust for it now.

The in-character debate we had where people were back-and-forthing at a rate of like several posts a day was FREAKING AWESOME, but I'm not sure that'll come together again for us the way it did.

Yeah.

Also, a note to Shinn and anyone else orchestrating the "Olympus has Fallen" part; can we please have it be someone else's security/intelligence service that screwed up in not identifying whoever is responsible, I've already had one terrorist attack due to faulty intel, I'd rather not get blamed for another one.

In an indiscreet moment of boundless optimism I decided to see if I could nanowrimo my way through a story set in San Dorado. It's exceedingly unlikely I'll make it to 50,000 words but hey, it's been a few years since last I tried. So here goes Hadeskeep!

I have an event (tentatively) dated for early July (at the request of another player) that involves invitations to an undisclosed event at an undisclosed location on just a few hours notice. Who's up for their people boarding an airplane and not knowing where they are going?

Well, the organizations getting invited (both nations and news media) are being given an invite, and told that if they want to come they have to be at the international terminal at Honolulu International to be taken to a demonstration. They are also being told to bring at least one change of clothes.

What exactly is being demonstrated is still underwraps.

Don't worry, I wouldn't kill off a bunch of foreign dignitaries and members of the media on purpose.

You can expect both a government and media rep from Tianguo to be there.

The Umerians will send a deputy coordinator from the Ministry of Culture's Pacific Cultural Extension Office, with a secretary from the Department of Public Information to help her put together any reports that might later be turned into media footage.

The secretary is probably going to be swearing and muttering while hauling around a very large case full of camera equipment, since he has no idea what or where he's going to be photographing. Also because Umerian news service equipment tends to be both bulky and somewhat archaic.

So I realised something... there aren't much by way of joint Science projects. The UOCSR has lots of land, and most of it, barring an ICBM or IRBM, is out of range of Kagaria. Anyone interested in a Supercollider or a Super Linear Collider?
