You know, a SMAC STGOD would be so awesome...we could end the game with the Moon landings, then have an epilogue "50 years later..." with world leaders watching the launch of the Unity...

And then start it on Alpha Centauri :D

I'd advise it doesn't follow the game's formula exactly, though: focusing on expansion is, IMHO, what killed SD.net Kingdoms.

While we are discussing all this, might I ask if the conference is going to move forward, or are we.. giving up on the game already? The conference started something like 3 weeks ago!

It was a Duchy when the game started. Then I absorbed the Border States and became something bigger, but It didn't count as much because Marina didn't let me increase my GDP or army size. Still it doesn't matter now. The UCSR is an Imperium plus a Duchy with the Border States.

Also, is it just me or has all this talk about the next version of SD.Net World and SMAC STGOD, killed the current game? The conference seems to have grinded to a halt.

Also: A SMAC STGOD would be awesome. :D

Oh, there have been a few ups and downs in this stgod, followed by a flurry of activity. I'd give it some more time before declaring it dead :D

This will certainly be the longest running conference with absolutely nothing achieved beyond some nice diplomatic words.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want this game to die yet. We need more time to wrap things up, and it's still fun. :D

Also: Flurry of activity usually means someone started some shit. Which is quite fun.

Don't worry, I'll give everyone something to talk about.

I can't imagine Shep being a pet dog of Old Dominion, but this would be interesting as hell.

Do we expect him to start sending nukes via mail?

I figure the OD is at least halfway between a Tsardom and a Imperium by now, especially when I factor in the influence wield over all those NPCs through OICAS.

If the game ends, I'll have an awesome sendoff for it ready for the middle of May.

It'd be interesting to set the next iteration of this game in the past, more interesting than Alpha Centauri anyway... Although the prospect of sci-fi is enticing I think the fun in lasers and such would fade rather quickly compared to the possibility of fighting perfidious Shroomania in the trenches... Mustard gas and zeppelins over space stations, I say!

Whatever could be wrong with fightinig perfidious Shroomania in the trenches with nerve gas and zeppelins with lasers?

I'm not sure what's fun in a style of warfare which makes about as much sense as staying home and shooting 50 000 of your men every month :P

I'd totally get a kick with being old Britain! Walrus moustaches! Pomp and ceremony! The Prince of Whales!

I will happily load up my artillery guns with nerve gas, chemical gas, dead cow carcasses, Spanish flu......

Did they have nerve gas in WWI?

We'll beat you by shooting live cow carcasses! :P

I'm not sure, but I will definitely be loading up my tubes with lots and lots of chemical warheads.

And I don't think there's such a thing as an animal that's alive yet dead.

I shall also make notes to lob rats carcasses with bubonic plague in them.

Whats with all this focus on chemical warfare? It wasn't terribly effective in WWI anyway. You all can feel free to lob gas everywhere while I figure out creeping barrages and Stormtrooper tactics.

It's a scorch earth policy, only thing is, the enemy is doing it. Poison the rivers, cholera outbreaks etc.

Of course, backed up by creeping barrages and stormtrooper tactics, and tank maneuver tactics and everything.

I never said I was a fan of it; just that he could theoretically do it in a SMAC RP, too...

You guys do know stormtroopers suffered truly horrendous casualties, right? Germany bled itself dry during that last offensive of theirs, for land gains which were ultimately quite meaningless.

Uh, no, I didn't...

Is it really relevant, though? :D
