[Discussion] VI for Ryan Thunder?

Post by Edi »

I propose we brand Ryan Thunder with the title of Village Idiot. He has demonstrated a thorough lack of ability in debating things rationally, has a habit of stating his opinions and expectations as fact, ignoring points that demolish his arguments and displayed bigoted attitudes toward various groups on several occasions.

Some evidence:
  • Trouble in Juarez, Mexico
  • Which got it's very own HoSed spinoff thread
  • Followup to Bus Rider Beheading Story where Ryan repeatedly fails to get a simple point through his thick skull
  • Iran Manhattan Project Speeds Ahead where he displays utter ignorance of military and political realities
  • Tau Technology in Other Sci-Fi where he acts like a complete wanker, ignores points in favor of fapping over the Tau because naturally HIS opinion is the only one that counts, damn analysis and forum rules regarding evidence
  • Internet Explorer 8 WTF? thread in Gaming & Computers where the stupid fucker completely ignores all points made because his opinion is again the only one that matters
  • Pirate Bay DDo$ thread in N&P, whiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!
  • China steel dumping thread in N&P where he just keeps trolling for pages and pages because Third World countries industrializing might threaten his precious, precious living standards and they have no right! WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!!!!!
There would be many, many more hits if one bothers to look, but I have better things to do. Would somebody please care to second this so we can tar and feather the asshat?

The man-child has a grasp of economic and foreign policy rivaled only by that of George W. Bush, and displays the sort of mouth-breathing RAH RAH RAH interweb tough-guy bullshit that wouldn't be out of place in a beer-soaked trailer-park full of rednecks.

Yes, I wholeheartedly support the notion of titling him.

I concur.

I move we start a poll immediately.

For this title discussion thread all I ask is that we give this until the weekend to gestate at that point if there is a motion we can proceed to the vote.

impervious to reason
That sounds like a good title. We'll need to keep that one handly.

Second the motion. We have seen the evidence and it is damning.

I wouldn't say he's impervious to reason, just very childish and explaining anything to him takes a painstakingly long time, as well as requires a complete breakdown of the argument to the basics until he grasps very simple concepts...

Edi did a good job of collecting his greatest hits, I actually forgot some of them. Had a few good laughs.

Ryan Thunder has shown himself either to be childish enough or callous enough (his stance on the Third World countries developing their industries possibly at the expense of the western world's (namely, his) luxury's expense is a proof of that) to merit a Village Idiot title. And while not completely unfamiliar nor impervious to reason, his particular style of debating and stating his opinions requires a bulldozer to get through, something that does not add anything of value to discussions, besides increasingly more heated arguments.

Let him be awared the rare and highly sought-after prize: the donkey hat of the Village Idiot.

His stock responses to criticism of any argument appear to be 'oh, yeah?' and <repeat last statement>. This would be bad enough, but his attitudes towards politics is pretty odious - although I'm not sure that's worthy of titling. I'm ready to vote on this.

Sure, fine with me - where's the voting thread?

(No, really - I can find it on my own, Thx. I'm not the idiot here)

I do object to giving RT anything other than "Village Idiot", because we should not consider him to be a special or worthwhile idiot, he is simply an idiot, and needs to be labeled as such. This has only been, oh, maybe a year in coming I'd say, and let's not give him anything to be proud about. Brand him for the edification of the general population, and move on.

While I don't share the vim and vigor others here do on the subject; he does indeed seem to fit the charge, and I can't readily think of an argument to object to the proposal.

I read the trainwreck of a thread that was the Iran/SPECTRE Manhattan Project™ and what I saw was bad enough. It took just his first two posts in the China Steel Dumping thread to convince me that Ryan is seriously in need of a notice that he needs to stay in the kiddie pool until he grows the fuck up.

By all means, set up the poll.

He does come off a bit dim - one would think he'd put more thought into those short, oversimplified opinions of his after being nailed up by them a few times. I'll await the poll.

Vote will go up tomorrow/later today (depending upon your time zone :D). As an alert I will not be packaging the vote spam messages until the rest of our voting comes due. Since nominations close in 2 days and I'd like to vote on potential Whips at the same time PMs will not be sent to anyone prior to Monday morningish.
