There are several members of this board with Asbergers, myself included. Perhaps we should each post on how much or little of the standard symptoms we experience from this problem?
Macross wrote:Aspergers Syndrome is “social autism”.
More accurately, an "autism spectrum disorder". Key word, "spectrum"
Dislike any changes in routines.
I personally make an active effort to try new places to eat, new hobbies, and have even lived in three different cities in my lifetime.
Not pick up on social cues and lack inborn social skills, such as being able to read others' body language, start or maintain a conversation, and take turns talking.
Yes, I have that one in spades.
Be unable to recognize subtle differences in speech tone, pitch, and accent that alter the meaning of others’ speech. Thus, your child may not understand a joke or may take a sarcastic comment literally. Likewise, his or her speech may be flat and difficult to understand because it lacks tone, pitch, and accent.
Yes, I struggle with that.
Appear to lack empathy.
Definitely not. If anything, people say I show too much.
Be preoccupied with only one or few interests, which he or she may be very knowledgeable about. Many children with Asperger's syndrome are overly interested in parts of a whole or in unusual activities, such as doing intricate jigsaw puzzles, designing houses, drawing highly detailed scenes, or astronomy.
Yes, often labeled as obsessive compulsive.
Talk a lot, usually about a favorite subject. One-sided conversations are common. Internal thoughts are often verbalized.
No. I rarely talk at all, thanks to some of the above factors. I do have a few subjects that I can discuss but I've found that most people don't give a damn about them, so I don't discuss them much so as to not bore them with my interests and I try to make a point to show an interest in theirs, even though I'm often not very successful at it.

Perhaps the biggest symptom that Macross missed was the extreme hypersensitivity, which often contributes to the social limitations of Asbergers.

Is 'asberger's syndrome' an alternative spelling/pronunciation I wasn't aware of? When my friends owuld make jokes about it, they'd call it 'Ass-burgers', and it irritated me to no end.

It's just a misspelling. Sorry about that.

As for people making fun of it, I find that every human being always has something you can make fun of in return, if you get to know them well enough. People can guard their weaknesses carefully on the Internet if they try, but in real-life, you can always find something.

Wow, the more I read about this guy, the more my stomach wants to backflip. Pity can only go so far. Macross, you simply need to just fucking get drunk for once in your life and forget about all this psychoanalyzing bullshit. At least in that hazy of all states you can be truthful to yourself about where you want to go in life.

Somehow I'm betting you're never been drink either...a shame.

I've seen it spelled both ways, "Aspergers" and "Asbergers" although the former is more common.

Yeah, I would never have been able to guess who had some form of a mental illness on here and who was "normal." In some ways, the internet is used by a lot of people just hide a lot of these perceived weaknesses and I really don't think that' s doing them any more of a favor than where they began. Hell, I know I've used it before just to stay away from civilization. Fuck that.

Of course, for some people like Macross, you can tell right off bat how deranged they can be by just how they right.

P.S. Sorry about the double posting, folks.

The last thing this guy needs to do is get drunk. He should be seeking professional help.

Macross have you considered the possibility that a mental disorder is causing you to think that Nitram is causing everyone to side against you? Do you have a single supporter in this thread? There are some that aren't being as harsh towards you, but they are still against you.

My advice. Post your apology so you can remain a member of the board, and then go get some help. If you're getting help take a break from this board and discuss your original topic with your doctor.

I've only seen the term "ass-burgers" in reference to the fake self-diagnosis some losers on the internet sometimes give themselves to cover up their own bullshit, in the same vein of professed illiteracy when you're really just being a lazy git when it comes to typing and so on.

That's not to say there isn't a pile of assholes out there willing to make wise-cracks about it whether real or fake however.

In an earlier thread, Warsie (who claimed to have autism himself), used "ass-burger" as an insult against Nitram, in blatant show of idiocy.

Macross wrote:This is basically what has been happening in the forums, people don’t pick up on SirNitrams problems and focus on what they like about him, and then they tune out whatever I say.
As many others have noted, they were responding the same way before SirNitram showed up. The annoyance-turned-contempt that you are eliciting is due to your actions. Or do you honestly think Nitram somehow traveled back in time and began this conspiracy before he ever actually became involved in it?

Let me provide another bit of perspective. I felt the same way your other critics here did before Nitram showed up, and for the same reasons. When I was younger, I made pretty much the same mistakes you discussed at the start of this thread. And the advice of people like the ones who responded to you was exactly what I needed to get my act together. I don't know Nitram other than seeing some of his previous posts on the board and frankly didn't even think his posts in this thread were substantively different from the things everyone else is saying. The only reason I notice them in particular now is because of your ridiculous flailing. I'm sure some of the other posters herein are in a similar circumstance.

The very fact that you are twisting this around into some board conspiracy on Nitram's part is a painfully obvious way for you to avoid dealing with the situation you initially posted about. Go back, look at the early pages of this thread, in which the same things were being said long before SirNitram popped in, and ask yourself how you can logically claim that those responses were instigated by Nitram.

Also, ask yourself why you are unable to answer the simple question people keep putting to you regarding the situation with your co-worker: "Have you asked her out?" Asking yourself why you avoid even discussing that issue, the one that led you to start this thread, might lead you to some of those insights you've been looking for.

I have noticed all of these symptoms in SirNitram,
Um, wait.

You've noticed his inability to pick up body language and failure to recognize speech tones while exchanging text messages? Jesus, dude, seriously, seek help.
Macross wrote:He is afraid to seek help because he fears he will lose what he already has, when all I was trying to tell him was that everything would be so much better if he learned to live with his disorder.
So publicly admitting that he has the disorder and discussing all of the means that he has used and continues to use to lead a healthy social life, testimony supported by those that know him and acknowledge his issues and the efforts he's made to overcome them, constitute a failure to live with his disorder? That takes the phrase "radical interpretation of the text" to a whole new level.
Macross wrote:This is paradise for him, here people mimic his social behavior and he must think I am trying to take it all away from him and that’s why he is trying to get rid of me.
I do not say this to be mean or mock you, but this sentence really puts all of the problems you've discussed in this thread into perspective -- both the ones dealing with people here and the ones dealing with people in real life. It's ridiculously melodramatic, ragingly narcissistic and frankly indicative of a fair amount of projection. You're badly overstating your actual importance to SirNitram and failing to deal with the issues that led you to start this thread in the first place.

I know its already been said repeatedly but please listen -- GET PROFESSIONAL HELP. The insights into yourself and others that you are claiming make you sound delusional. I've seen friends of mine continue to make this mistake at your age and rather than figuring out their problems and coming to terms with them, they have actually become worse because they are only sinking deeper into them.
It's okay to kiss a nun; just don't get into the habit.

Oh lookie, another PM from Macross!
Just because your marriage is falling apart doesn’t give you right to take it out on me.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason your marriage is failing is because you spend all of your free time on this website? Maybe if you cut back to one hour a day, two on weekends, and spent the rest of the time with your family things would actually improve?

For crying out loud, you once took a laptop on a family vacation so you could tell everyone here that you were having a lot of fun with the family. Next time, leave the laptop at home and actually go have fun with the family.
Where the fuck did this imbecile get the idea that my marriage is "failing"? I'm lucky enough to be married to the most wonderful wife in the world and he thinks my marriage is "failing"? I guess he figures this must be true because I spend time on the Internet? He assumes that a real relationship is 24/7, thus leaving no time for individual activities? That's some really fine logical deductive skills there, Macross. No one can tell that you have zero experience with relationships, no sir!

It's pretty obvious that his modus operandi is to always assume everyone else has serious problems. At the age of 31, he's a virgin who still can't talk to women. So he projects: he assumes that SirNitram doesn't know how to talk to people, and he assumes that my love life is crap. LOOK IN THE MIRROR, fool. It's your love life that's crap, and it's you who can't talk to people.

You're history, fucktard.
Image

Don't worry about us. We won't miss you any more than your female coworker will miss you while she's being fucked by the guy she moved in with.

PS. You probably think your passive/aggressive "I'm just trying to help you" method of insulting people is really clever. It's not. We know what you're trying to do, and you're not rattling our cage at all. Grow the fuck up; at the age of 31, you're acting like a high school junior.

By the way, in case anyone knows any females who are desperate to hook up with an emotionally stunted 31 year old virgin with a tendency to project his own problems onto anyone who doesn't tell him what he wants to hear, those ladies can contact Macross at his E-mail address: jamdbail@comcast.net
