I think most countries don´t even have highschool sports teams. At least that´s what it´s like here. If you want to be in a team you have to join a club.

Russia has, but since old times, the players are paid nothing. Wanna be a sport star? Show your enthusiasm. No professional play, but eventually through school championships, players rise to prof-clubs and then possibly to premier league.

You completely misinterpreted what I said. I was never arguing with the truth that many high schools do function like that. I actually agree. However, mine doesn't, and I was pointing out that you were making a statement based only on your mostly true opinion, rather than on facts about the social functioning of my high school.
Wrong, moron. You said that the statement had "no basis in fact". Now your new fallback position is "it has plenty of basis in fact, but it is not a universal blanket generalization". Don't lie, asshole.
Also, one question, which is serious. What does flaming pointlessly (as you did) provide for a discussion, or for anything in general? I don't see how calling your opponents immature names does anything beneficial.
Why the fuck does it have to accomplish something beneficial? I do it because I feel like it, and because you deserve it.
1. I only said that the statement that my high school behaves like your generalized, stereotype vision of high school has no basis in fact. Nothing more. You are again misinterpreting what I said.

2. Basically, you feel like acting immature and pretending you dominate someone, so you do?

You're a fucking liar. You said "YOUR statement", ie- my statement which was not specifically about your high school.
2. Basically, you feel like acting immature and pretending you dominate someone, so you do?
Real maturity is about taking responsibility for your own actions and words, dipshit. That's something you obviously aren't doing, with your preposterous lies about your own statements which anyone can see are not true by simply looking at the quote. Ever heard of that word? Responsibility? You might want to look it up sometime. You and far too many of your brethren have been raised in this incredible mollycoddling culture of "self-esteem" where no one is ever allowed to tell you that you're being an idiot. Well grow the fuck up; in the real world, people take you to task when you say or do something stupid.

Maturity is not simply acting polite or dignified; that's the kiddie version of responsibility. Winston Churchill was famous for his verbal attacks; I suppose he was "immature" too?

Does your entering a bb of your own free will and then shortly afterwards commencing whining about the board culture that you chose to enter into not strike you as more than a little bit 'immature'?

It's interesting how it's always the high-schoolers who think that in order to be "mature", you have to treat them the way their teachers treat them: by mollycoddling them. Do they honestly not realize that in the real world, nobody wants to be your surrogate mommy?

So you got caught in an obvious lie, and this is your pitiful attempt at a tu quoque?

It isn't, because I don't understand what your original statement was referring to. I thought it was specifically my high school, but you make it sound like it was intended to generalize about high school. If this is the case, I have no problem with the statement, and the stupid war can end.

No it isn't. I am just pointing out that unless you are ranting about high schoolers in general, it is lie, because that isn't what I am doing.

On the other hand, it is a pretty blatant admission that you didn't bother reading the forum rules at the top of the board. Anyone claiming to be mature would make sure to know what the proper etiquette and rules of a place they go to are. The rules and etiquette around here basically say we get to flame the shit out of you if you're acting like a moron. :D

Why the fuck would I be talking about your specific high-school when I don't even know where it is or what it's called? Obviously, I'm talking about high-school in general. You're just being a pedantic little shit.

You could still be referring to the high school I am going to, without knowing the name.

Whatever, I seriously misinterpreted you. Think what you want, but that is the case. This war is over.

In my Canadian high school, sports were focused on pretty intensely, though not to the level that they seem to be in the US. The football, cheerleading and hockey teams were all roads to instant status and celebrity though the yearbook committee and honour roll list were looked upon generally quite a lot too. It seems to be a cultural thing predominantly in North America, since many of my European friends report of no such phenomenon.

Obviously, you can't read. Only Senators are allowed to discuss potential changes to board policy. If you don't like board policy, either ask a Senator to act on your behalf or get the fuck out and start your own forum.

At least in Canadian high schools, they don't get screaming capacity crowds at their football games. It's unbelievable how much attention is paid to sports in some areas. There was a Michigan high-school football game that drew more than a hundred thousand people once! I can't understand that at all.

This is true. Many times, our school would have to offer a "buy out" option to get people to even see a lot of the sports events! Kids would buy tickets and then be able to "leave" early on certain days, technically to go and see the aforementioned events. Most just went home, though.

As well, all the coaches at my school were teachers, first and foremost. Most were physed teachers, but many also were qualified to teach a math and sometimes science as well. Other coaches did not teach physed, but volunteered their time to take on a coaching position. That is the ideal way, I think.

Damn, most pros and colleges don't get that many. Of course, that is Michigan, home of "The Big House"

The whole notion of having tickets to inter-school sporting events just seems foreign to me, does this mean you had stands for spectators and so forth? At all my schools involvement in inter-school sports basically consisted of a polite teacher led clap whenever the results were read out in assembly.

Even in my relatively small high school we had stands for spectators. My theory on it is that parents push for this shit so they can live vicariously through their children.
