Nerfed Orks in the Trekverse

Post by Zor »

In this scenario one day due to some cosmic hiccup an ork Landa ends up sucked into the Trekverse in the 2345 near an otherwise unremarkable and uninhabited and unclaimed world near the Klingon and Federation Space where it makes a landing which wrecks the ship, but leaves the pilot and payload of the pilot, a dozen boyz, a few dozen gretchens and a couple of meks alive enough to come out and spewing out spores. As this happens Q takes note and thinks that this is an interesting development, but makes a minor tweeks to the orks before the crash that they don't notice. Basically the planet begins Orkiforming and soon new squigs, grots and orks are bursting out of the ground. At the same time the Meks and Boyz begin setting up shop and making gunz and suchlike, as well as machines to build bigger, badder machines (some of which to build even bigger machines and so forth), bringing in newer grots and Orks to help them with this. Even so, some of the machines are a bit different than the ones they remembered. Which pertains to the tweeks that Q made.

Ork infantry and vehicle level weapons are basically the same with a few tweeks relating to the lack of a Warp. Their spacecraft however are at a level of rough comparability to Federation and Klingon spacecraft of the same size and will max out at about a kilometer long. THey still have a lot of kinetic energy weapons and Fightas and Bombas.

In any case around 2360 a Klingon Vor'cha class cruiser comes to examine the planet for suitable colonization sites when it gets mobbed by planet launched missiles, a swarm of Fightas and Bombas and has a bunch of Boyz beamed on board to loot it and the Orks begin their spread across the Alpha Quadrant.

What happens?

The Orkz win! None of the Alpha Quadrant powers are ready to repel the greenskin horde because the instant they get spaceflight and start spreading out they are going to quickly infest planets. Without the Warps and space hulks for Orcs to take rides on to random planets they are going to be kinda driven to expand like a Waaaaghhh is going on which it is for all intents and purposes.

Even kicking their technology down to Trek levels you have to deal with the small problem of Orks well known love of fighting and killing and the kind of large scale armed forces needed ones they get a toe hold somewhere is going to be a massive issue for Trek.

Da Meks makes the Vor'Cha dead shooty wiv loadz a guns all over, slasp a big red button on da Kaptin's chair on da bridge, an' paints the ship red, cuz red makes the ship go fasta.

(and, the end result will make Star Trek ships look safer to ride on)

The Klingons really should be capable of mobilizing to stop this level of threat, but the Federation isn't institutionally suited for it.

The orks look for the biggest fight possible and encounter the Metrons or something, whereupon they are unceremoniously crushed.

Is there a chance for a temporary alliance to form against the all-destructive, utterly unreasonable, diplomatically unapproachable and undiscriminating enemy that cannot make allies? Because it is the kind of threat that would rapidly become a problem for everyone and once it became clear for what it is, I imagine the Klingons and the Federation (and maybe other powers because this can rapidly become their problem too) dogpiling everything they have to stop it.

The major powers around the Federation all seem to actually get along well enough that they would not have a problem agreeing to fight a common enemy like this, though they might not all become highly tactically coordinated. It would really depend how far the Orks got before being detected, because everyone would be at so much damn risk of defeat in detail to Ork suicide tactics and boarding. Klingons would be a puddle of Swiss cheese.

100%.

Even in TOS the Klingons and Federation could team up against a common enemy - Day of the Dove. We see the Dominion and Federation work together against a common enemy in one episode, even, and after the first Borg attacks in the Neutral Zone, the Romulans and Federation agree to cooperate to share research and fight the borg.

Even the Cardassians and the Federation will work together at times. The Ferengi, the Breen, almost everyone in Star Trek is reasonable enough to cooperate.

The Borg of course, worked with Janeway.

Klingons are wannabe berserkers who charge into battle with bladed weapons that suck and have no reach. Orks are hulking punishment machines with bladed weapons that don't suck, plenty of shootas that might not be the best or most accurate weapon but won't really matter in a CQB situation, massive number advantages and even sometimes armor. Klingons aren't that great in a fight despite their supposed prowess, they do better then pajama wearing redshirts/goldshirts sometimes but that ain't saying much.

Orks are going to laugh at a bat'leth if the Klingons even get close enough to use them. Thats a big if, in 40k the battles make it to melee range because the enemies are just so tough and numerous. A fight between Orks and Klingons would be like a fight between Orks and Guardsmen but far worse. Even Guardsmen have decent body armor to absorb hits from Ork guns on occasion plus they have the firepower to put the hurt of the Orks from far away. They however tend to get pasted in close quarters fighting. Klingon armor sucks, their guns are okay but don't seem to like using them during the TNG era, and so aren't going to be able to do much to hurt an Ork beyond maybe his feelings.
