"vs" discussions in this forum

Post by Darth Wong »

Since a number of people have asked, "vs" discussions are OK in this forum, unless they are specifically "Star Wars vs Star Trek", in which case they should obviously go to the forum dedicated for that purpose. If you want to do Starship Troopers against Federation redshirts, that's fine here. Go ahead and have fun with it :)

Ah, more comedy afoot here.

Can anyone seriously debate with the movie MI from SST against Red Shirts? I mean, the whole idea is laughable and paradoxical I thinkl.

If it's the Movie MI, the Redshirts all crouch behind rocks and squeeze off shots. The MI rush them, heedless of losses, and are able to get within the 20 foot maximum range of their stupid Morita rifles. Then they engage in incredibly stupid slow-mo hand to hand combat, and nobody wins.

If it's the book MI, they kill tens of thousands of Red Shits--oops, Shirts--without losses.

The battle never happens. All MI are murdered by starships. I mean, Starfleet ships may not be the best in the universe, but they don't die from bug farts.

Sadly, before the red shirts can celebrate their non-battle victory, a huge asteroid smashs them.

What's so sad about that?

It's expected.
Though we are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Actually, that be yellow shirts. Red shirts would wipe them out with SUPER PHASERS, but then SOMETHING kills em

Kirk: Mr.Spock prepare to attack that planet.

Mr.Spock: But sir! Sending troops down there would be suicide! They would be torn to shreds.

Kirk: Just send down a few hundred red shirts, they have to run out of ammunition some time.

Mr.Spock: But sir we could just attack them from orbit........

Kirk: I said send down the FUCKING red shirts! One more word and you'll be cleaning out the tribble cages the rest of the mission.

Mr.Spock: Yes sir. All sacrific... er um, I mean security forcs report to the transporters.

I dunno; the movie MI were morons, but they still sucked less than redshirts IMHO. I figure they would fire thousands of rounds of ammo at the rocks behind which the redshirts are hiding, because that's what they do: fire thousands of rounds of ammo.

This would normally be useless. But unfortunately for the redshirts, they're too stupid to keep their heads down or wear helmets in combat, so they keep popping up to squeeze off shots, and they eventually all get killed by the hail of random gunfire.

I wonder if the opinions would change if say we gave each side a major character?

Redshirts get Sisko and movie MI get Rico.

Any takers?

Red Mike's Reviews: Starship Troopers!
The lieutenant is dead, so Johnny is the new lieutenant. "I only have one rule!" he tells the replacements. "Everyone fights! No one quits!" This is okay, because back in the first reel we'd discovered that Johnny's final reportcard math score was only 35%. If I'd been taking command, my remark would have been "I only have one rule! Don't bunch up!" Then I would have taken some time to let them know about scouts, skirmishers, covering fire, and similar good stuff. I'd also try to mention that the cluster[verybadword] is a formation that we will never use again, regardless of what the entire rest of the infantry is up to.

LOL, that review is SO true.....I read the book, twice now, and when I saw the movie I was gaping and thinking "what the hell is this, nice effects but the only similarity to the book were the names of the characters!"

What about giant monsters from the universes of Godzilla and Gamera, respectively?? Such as Gamera vs. Godzilla, or Gyaos vs. Mothra???r

BTW, I am planning to do a "Kahless vs. Palpatine" poll in the ST vs. SW forum soon...

Hasn't Gamera already beaten Godzilla? I vaguely remember a movie about that.

Master of Ossus: That's not surprising, since ST doesn't use bullets. Not technobabbly enough.

Don't you mean "The Slammie Bros. vs. Godzilla and Gamera"???

That was intended to be a comedy.
