Best Scifi bartender?

Post by FaxModem1 »

So, one day a Random Omnipotent Being wants a drink. Instead of just conjuring one into from thin(or slightly out of shape) air and drinking that. It wants to be entertained as well.

So, it gathers up a group of bartenders from a few universes to see who can make the best drink and who can make the most hospitable and enjoyable experience. Whoever wins gets something that they would want.

From the Trek verse:
Guinan, an El Aurian with a fetish for big hats.(TNG)

Quark, a Ferengi with deals with half the quadrant.(DS9)

From the Wars verse:
Wuher, a human who doesn't like to serve droids.(A New Hope)

Ackmena, a human who is quick at serving drinks and occasionally gives them on the house to have repeat custromers(Star Wars: The Holiday Special)

So, who does the best at making the best drink and being the most hospitable?

The Asari matriarch bartender from ME2?
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.

At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.

The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'

'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

Quark it is.

OP says "who can make the best drink and who can make the most hospitable and enjoyable experience." I think I'd enjoy Tifa a lot more than Quark, who is just as likely to rob you as entertain you.

Now if we are just talking about the bar itself, Quark wins hands down from the holosuites alone.

I second that because a 1000-year old Asari matriarch can probably be quite a chat.

Quark

If I ever get bored with my drink I can laugh at his stupid ears. And as Setzer than there is Morn.
It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.

You win. There, I have said it.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.

I'm tempted to say that the poll is rigged... then I realised that there are really no decent Bar Tender characters in Sci-Fi all that much besides Quark.

Though... Brody from SGU seems to be developing into a rather impromptu Bartender...
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

And she won't always have "just cleaned the bar". ;)

Really though, from just the little conversation you can have with her I suspect there are some great stories she could tell.

Since I don't drink, I want a bartender who can be hospitable in other ways. That's Quark's holosuites or Ackmena's singing.

I'll go for Tifa and a good home cooked meal from her bar and grill.

Callahan's also has a brothel in his place, and there's the world's spookiest minor female (who was born with pretty much knowledge of everything and has the ability to teleport at will.

The Asari bartender is on Illium, the planet where slavery and indentured workers are legal and everything is for sale. It's also a planet whose population is majority Asari, if blue-skinned space babes are your thing.
