So they finally get around to deploying battle-25 huh?

Nice to see them deploy the fleet's flagship for once, but I wish they'd ditch the lame-ass transformation aspect and just make it a regular warship for once.

Now that's just crazy talk.

Although is there even an in-universe reason for transforming Macross-style ships anymore? The original had to do it because the fold engine buggered off and there was no line from the power plant to the main cannon, but presumably all the human-constructed ones wouldn't have been intentionally built with this flaw, right?

Clearly, it is so they can engage in hand-to-hand combat with enemy ships. At the very least it let Battle 7 get into a useful firing position while on the surface of a planet.

They adapt to it by getting the fuck dead (right now).

Seriously, the threat of the Vajra is more insidious than it is direct. While the red ones are a little overpowered (able to one-shot Northamptons), they're quite killable. The real problems are infiltrations and making sure they're all dead. For that matter, the real antagonists are the people from Galaxy (mwahaha). The Vajra are just pawns.

Did anyone else catch that Ranka's mother was one of the researchers who worked with Mao and Grace on the infection thingy? It might be related to the Vajra, given what it did to the Hydra in the Zero episode.

Good to see Battle 25's Intergalactic Rape Cannon in action at last. Very cool.

I didn't see Ranka's mother, although I was intending to rewatch it for that image; when I thought about it, Mao should be, what, early sixties in that photo? And she didn't look it at a glance. Did Mao adopt Sheryl, I wonder?

Mao is the one at the center of the photo. Grace is on the left and Ranshe (Ranka's mother) is at the right

Granny Mao is still cute. Really if there's any kind of success story in Macross, it's gotta be Mao going from an island girl to a full on doctor of space medicine or whatever she does. And Grace has now become the most evil character in all of Macross.
