Is there a particular reason that the inquisitors are dressed like crimson members of the Ku Klux Klan? Considering that all inquisitors were (without exception) clerics and would have worn habits, and furthermore relaxed defendants to the civil authorities for 'meet punishment,' because they adamantly insisted that 'the Church does not shed blood.'

Is time travel involved?
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

Watch the Monty Python "Spanish Inquisition" sketch, and you will see that the dialogue for panels 2, 3 and a bit of 4 are almost identical to parts of it. In the sketch, I remember the Spanish Inquisition wearing some red (I haven't watched it in years, so I can't remember exactly what they wore. I may be wrong)

Prep time would be irrelevant here for Batman, since obviously nobody expects them.

They were dressed as Catholic Cardinals. Which means a red robe.

They didn't wear masks though.

Is this from the infamous "batman had a sex change" arc? It's about as blatant a send up to Monty Python as is possible in this universe.

Because it's visually dramatic.

I think the only comics that had even remote historical accuracy were Donald Duck comics. :P

Ghetto edit: On the off chance that Praxis really doesn't know, that's not me, but Barbara Gordon, the first Batgirl.

I assumed the fact that she was, you know, a girl would have made it obvious that it was Batgirl.

Seriously...

Doubtful, as the Klan was founded by Protestants.

Speculation: More likely it was done to be more physicially imposing, and to have members appear more uniform. Also, I'm not even sure if the Catholics wore hats like that.

The outfits closely resemble the the outfits worn by many monastic orders during important religious cerimonies in very Catholic Countries. Watch a documentary on Spain and the Catholic church in modern times, and you can see the mighty purple KKK. Its actually quite amusing to see that the KKK, a vehemently anti-papist group, looks exactly like many different groups of Catholic Monks.
