The 'Vs.' Films

Post by JME2 »

Okay, we've got Freddy vs. Jason, Alien vs. Predator coming out next summer, and Batman vs. Superman put on hold until god knows when. Do you think its worthwhile to have all of these 'vs.' films or are they just of a waste of our and hollywood's money?

Bambi Meets Godzilla was definitly the best "vs" film...if you can call it that.

As for the rest--with the exception of AvP, all the others are just profit-whoring band-wagoners so i would expect them to be shit. I doubt Batman vs Superman will ever come out, that would be a major production of a film that would be incredibly ludicrous in concept and high in cost. But who knows--the combined strength of Batman and Superman fans may be enough to convince the studio that the film will generate profits.

Even if you can get all the legal stuff sorted, neither side can truly win without the other side's fans getting pissed. The Only AvP I enjoy are the games, the film could suck majorly.

Too bad they will never make a Star Trek vs Star Wars film.

If portrayed realisticly(sp), it would be a half-hour movie! :D

Nah if it would be completely realistic it would be more like 24 hours or something (but that depends on where that wormhole appears)... Hey! Why not make one of those "real-time" shows of Star Wars vs. Star Trek? That'd be cool!

I suppose if we use the old calcs and got Mike, Stravo or Mark S to write it then it would be a great movie.

Why don't we just use Conquest with added text?

Eh...I'd say not to sully Mike/Stravo or any of their works in that fashion and not make an ST vs SW film mostly because we either get something that 2 hours of Trek dying and an Imp admirial dictating his grocery list to a gunner...or we get something that could be much more, but doesn't because we need pointless diatribes from Riker.

I've always seen the vs. movie as a TV series, with several seasons. Stracrossed could be done in like 5 seasons. TV allows character development, which in my opinion is the only way to make Versus truly interesting because militarily it would not be as interesting or long lasting. UNless you have the Roddenberry estates and GL estates simply saying, yeah you're starships can hurt our ships easily, in other words evening the scales by writer fiat.

In the end I would much rather watch somethign like Luke dealing with betrayal and a desperate Federation trying to hold it together and see how certain characters react under a no win situation.

When you see where I'm taking 'The Best of Both Worlds', then there's a slight chance it could be added to the list.

Yeah, yeah JMS :P .

Still I agree with your statement.(Especially conflict wise...which is why I enjoyed both yours and Mike's fanfics.)

I could see Starcrossed or Twilight brought in as a five~six season series because of the amount one wants to explore as well as the characters themselves.

Jellico. Failing that, Janeway. But hopefully, it wouldn't come to that.

Ugh, no. It would be too long for even a 3 section movie, not without pretty much raping the storyline 7 ways to sunday.
