Extra footage for TTT (Spoilers)

Post by neoolong »

Here's a list of the extra footage for The Two Towers Extended Edition.

10/28

Pretty interesting.

Some new Ent stuff, more battle scenes, and Aragorn and Éowyn action.

Cool. Im glad I did not buy the regular DVD. I was so mad when they released the first one, without letting us know an extended version was on the way a few months later.

Um, the original FOTR DVD back cover lists as one of it's extras
"An inside look at the Special Extended DVD Edition of the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring". :)

I also heard about it ahead of time on a bunch of places on the net. In some of those cases it was suggested that eventually you probably wouldn't be able to find the original versions (which is why I bought them). They were using as an example Blade Runner since only the Director's Cut is available anymore and it seems other movies are following suit.

Dude, they were announcing it and telling everyone they could about the special edition. Don't complain.

Hmmm, I really, really hope they balance out the travestity of their portrayal of Faramir and to a lesser extent Theoden.

Faramir's character gets some cool parts in ROTK.

True. But they totally screwed up the portrayal of Faramir in TTT. He was suppose to be honorable and decent and resist the temptation of the Ring, not have the silly last minute change of heart.

The dramatic tension of it really came from Frodo's suspicion of Faramir and the question of whether it would corrupt him. Plus it also set the stage nicely for Frodo's desecent into paranioa and madness.

And what of the Huorns at Helm's Deep?

Oh, nothing, as usual. I guess a forest that suddenly appears overnight isn't "frightening".

That's in there.
The trees of Fangorn Forest marching to Helm's Deep, to get revenge on the Orcs.

The Orcs fleeing Helm's Deep, only to be swallowed up by the trees which have blocked their escape.
Sounds like Huorns to me.

They probably thought they would be mistaken as Ents. So they didn't have them.

Ok, I was mistaken. I didn't really notice it that much... it'll be interesting to see how Jackson executed that part, anyway.
