I just saw this tonight and enjoyed it, I thought the plot was fun and the actors did wonderfully. Now, what did everyone else think?

I loved it. And Keira Knightley is droolalicious.

Needed some cleavage, and more swaggering, slurred Johnny Depp ramblings. :P

It was worth the $4.75 I paid to see it, tho.

Not only is it a Disney movie, but at PG-13, it's the highest-rated film ever to be promoted under the Walt Disney Pictures title proper.

And it was good clean fun. I rather enjoyed it, though I wonder

(Here be Spoilers, arrrh!)

why the pirates were afraid of Ms. Swan dropping the coin into the water on the occasion of her first parlayance, seeing as how they can walk around on the bottom of the ocean. It shouldn't have been too difficult, I don't imagine, for them to have found it in the event that she did drop it.

But that aside, it was a good movie, and I certainly recommend it to everyone.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Currents perhaps? Or any other number of reasons why it may get flushed out to see and prove pretty damn hard to find.

I couldn't find any major plotholes, so that's a big step up from recent Disney fare alone.

Excellant, fun movie, though. Depp was awesome.

"Thanks, Jack!"
"Well...you're welcome."
"Oh, not you. We named the monkey Jack." Rush's drawl-ish voice was perfect.

Why is it that Jack could cut his hand when he threw the gold back in the treasure chest, but didn't have any blood come out of him when he got stabbed in the chest by Rush?

He did pull the sword out of himself when he was a skeleton, so there would be no blood there.

I just saw this movie today, with a friend because SirNitram didn't want to.
He missed a Damn Fine Movie!

As for why Jack could bleed on the coin, but didn't die from the wound? *shrug*
It might have been because Jack was holding the coin in his hand as he cut himself? Although that wasn't what I thought would happen when Jack palmed the coin... I just thought he was thinking of making sure they'd never break the curse.

He wasn't spurting gore or anything, but when he yanked the kitchen knife out of his chest, it had blood on it.

Just watched it today. Good for a disney movie. Only problem is that the soldiers attempting to fight the undead pirates was pointless, and that the ship bombarding the colony was unrealistic, since cannonballs are not that powerful.

BTW, how come no one has pointed out the similarity between Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly:

I'm not sure about ship's canon, but artillery canon can do great damage to fortifications. I do kow that canon could be hollowed out and filled with gunpowder, similar to the gernades the one Pirate was tossing about.

Still... the shelling of the town was mostly Disney show. ;)

But when Pirates is set that artillery wasn't mounted on normal warships, only on specialized ships. And cannon balls weren't hollowed out, it specialized shells for proper artillery. There's no way they should have been able to do that with ordinary ships.

Just movie-world embellishment.

Great scene, tho. I loved the trailing gunpowder-streams that floated in the air, showing where the canonball that just hit came from. :)
Sometimes, you just have to throw realism out the window to set up a dramatic scene.

Let me get this straight.

You're talking about realism in a movie with undead immortal skeletal pirates whose true nature is revealed by the light of the moon.

Oh, it is a good scene, I'm not arguing that.

But you mentioned the shells and artillery and I figured I'd set the record straight.

The curse is rather wimpy I think. I mean sure, they can't feel anything, but they are invulnerable! Think of what a european army could do with that chest, itd have almost a small regiment of soldiers, and all theyd have to do to cancel it is put em back with some blood.
