For my team, I'll go with Darth Fanboy, Falkenhorst, and MKSheppard, co-authors of Unnamed Porno Fanfic (for which I contributed several stories)- and Stuart Slade, author of Armageddon??? The Sixth Ranger will probably be Shroom Man 777.

For the robot, I choose a Tachikoma, from 'Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex'. Its hacking abilities will be a great boon in providing intelligence (at least while Rita's monsters are on Earth, thanks to all those closed-circuit television cameras), acquiring resources (say, "Goodbye!" to your offshore bank accounts, drug dealers), and getting alibis for the time we spend acting as Power Rangers (see the Tachikoma posing as a little girl's guardian in Episode 12, preventing a police officer from taking her to the station). Major Kusanagi Motoko would be ideal- she can provide us with critically needed combat training, as well as bend the "robot will be stuck in the command centre and cannot accompany you on missions," rule by acting as a puppeteer to other robots- but she's a cyborg, and the OP says cyborgs don't count.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

If we can customize Zords, I'll be putting laser target designators on EVERYTHING. The Tyrannosaurus rex and the saber-toothed cat get Hellfire missiles, the mastodon gets a pair of 155mm howitzers (for which laser-guided shells were manufactured), the Triceratops gets a Marksman anti-aircraft system and the 35mm autocannons mounted in its horns, and the Pteranodon gets enough AMRAAMs and laser-guided bombs to turn Goldar inside-out.

Oh, and I'd also recruit the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, really; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=228WvjzHtUA

I wonder if we could give them a set of ranger powers?

Unless I like the details of what happens with respect to our significant others, I must note:

If nominated I will not run; if elected I will not serve. Broomstick will probably say the same. Both of us have spouses we love and would not willingly abandon to go play with giant robots. I can't speak for Alyrium or E_F.

Hey, I'd decline too, and I don't have such good reasons as you. ;)

I've been meaning to say a few things, but I'm lazy. Anyway, let's do this.

First thing, your family will be brought along with you. Ages will be adjusted to account for yours, though the degree will vary to avoid any "relatives become a baby/unborn" situations. With dead relatives, such as grandparents, they can brought back, though you will decide that before the scenario begins.

Second, if you achieve the win condition, Q will grant your team one request. However while he is omnipotent, he is against effectively granting you multiple requests via word games. Using your request to ask for more requests is also, naturally, forbidden.

So, hypothetically, if one had a younger sibling who is older than a teenager, do you then become the younger sibling? That would be interesting.

I would imagine that if your sibling is, say, four years younger than you, they remain four years younger. If they were twenty years younger than you, they probably end up as a baby or a toddler.

Well, that settles my main objection to the whole thing. Me and the missus always wished we'd gotten a chance to meet in high school, anyway. :D

Alright, so can anyone think of a plan to beat Lord Zedd's Serpentia, apart from hoping he'll waste its planet killer shot? If we move to fast and it looks like he's losing he might very well just decide to cut his losses and blow the planet up.

Beam into a Military base, grab a large tactical nuke, beam it onto the Moon when Rita first shows.
BOOM, no Rita

When Zedd arrives, repeat.

I wouldn't count on it being that easy. Especially if the plan is "make your own WMD." It's not obvious that we're given enough knowledge of the working principles of the Zords for that to be possible, and even if we do have it, we'd be five people trying to design something to explode when we want it to, and NOT when we don't want it to. The villains probably know the technology as well as we do, and may be able to detect, neutralize, or return-to-sender our devices.

Basically, mucking around with explosives is a risky game, and that doubles for nuclear explosives.

Yeah, but it's still five people, and none of us are scientific supergeniuses.

I think I'd rather stick to plans that don't involve us having to invent radically new technology, or playing with nuclear explosives. If we have someone like Data who is actually a supergenius as our trusty robot ally, maybe we can think in those terms, but that is a different question.

It's still less risky than Solauren's proposal that we STEAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS from a MILITARY BASE. Such actions will get us all branded as "nuclear terrorists," under the crosshairs of every single government and military organization on the planet.

Convince the God of the Wild Zords to give us a motorcycle?

Hahaha, nice reference there. That Serpentia seemed... quite a bit different from the original though, wouldn't you say? Particularly when it comes to size?

It's Power Rangers, when it comes to continuity you just gotta roll with it sometimes.

It is the same Serpentara, that is the intention and nothing in the episode's dialogue indicates otherwise. The SFX budget wasn't up to the task of showing it properly, but it is the same one from MMPRS2.

We also have to roll with the fact that Zedd didn't leave Sepentera behind, he used it to flee the Machine Empire in Zeo...

True, but he had to get back to the moon with the Winnebago of Evil* later in the season somehow.

And then there's whatever weird gap is between the end of Zeo ("We're back!") and the Turbo movie that had them going "eh fuck it not our fight anymore" for some reason.

I guess if you look up "Scorpion Rain" it may or may not explain it; it was a hoax thing yes but the guy behind it ended up as a PR writer and wrote Forever Red, and said it was 'canon' in his mind when doing so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*I know it just showed them teleporting in but maybe they rode Serpentara to some part of the moon and then teleported from there. It's never particularly consistent how the villains get around from place to place, especially in those early seasons.

You want to build a WMD out of something called the Morphin Grid?

Nah.
Nukes are the way to go.

Worse case is, while arming it on the moon, the robot assistant gets nuked too.

I understand you want to get rid of Alpha 5, but remember, the OP allows us to choose our own robot assistant. I don't want to sacrifice something as expensive and as USEFUL as Tachikoma.
