The Great Race of Yith Mindswap With the GEoM

Post by Corvus 501 »

The future God Emperor of Mankind is body swapped by a Yith sociologist wishing to study the humanity of the time period. His study in the great libraries of the Yith being highly successful, the future GEoM retrieves all the knowledge that would otherwise be suppressed by Yith memory wipe protocols. Later on, he also hunts down other people mind swapped by the Yith, and covertly retrieves everything they studied in the library cities, later on raiding it himself.

So. What's your point? What are we supposed to go with here? Is there a 'what happens'? This is kind of fucking useless unless you can come up with an actual scenario rather than some vague background.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

The Yith immediately dies in agony; unless you want to specify a period, it's the default Emperor, currently under constant mental attack by four chaos gods.

Why would the God-Emperor consent to such a thing given that he is at best anti-alien and at worst actively genocidal towards aliens?

What do the Yith know that is of any real value to him?

They have a degree of understanding of time travel and higher-dimensional engineering I believe, neither of which the Imperium has. They may also have a means of FTL not dependent on the warp. They also have better FTL comms than astro-telepathy.

Any of these would allow the Emperor to stamp all opposition into the dirt and defeat the chaos gods forever, if he could roll them out.

When he'd return. The problem is that while the Yith swapped places with the Emperor, the Yith-Emperor now has to do the Emperor's job. Either it is a complete surprise and it dies instantly or it has come prepared to do the job. In which case the thing will have to do everything the Emperor does, which is actually quite a tall order, and keep his cover on without the entire Imperium noticing.

If both parties manage to do things right and the Emperor doesn't kill all the Yith around him in revenge (I would assume that the Yith have SOME countermeasures if their human-Yith aren't peaceable), it is possible that this could be the miraculous recovery that the Imperium needed. If the Yith can keep everything under control, which would be quite an impressive achievement even for a super-alien, then it might also have ideas and do things that the Emperor hadn't tried.

But if the Yith-Emperor, it will cause the Imperium to collapse. If the Yith-Emperor dies or fails to do any number of things essential for the survival of the Imperium, the Imperium collapses. Navigators will be without a central reference point, demons become stronger, the Imperium loses leadership, religious crisis of galactic proportions, loss of morale in nearly all military units, etc. It may be possible that the Yith-Emperor's sense of ethics would not allow the continual sacrifice of countless physics just to keep a navigational point alive. Or be able to allow the countless atrocities that are the Emperor's standing order.
Credo!
