Sword of the South (David Weber)

Post by dragon »

Well the latest entry in the Saga of Bazhel Bloody Hand is here. Takes place 70-80 years after the other books. Bazhel Champion of Tomanak and his Sothoii war maid for a wife and their daughter find a man with no memory of who he is. Of course Wizard Wencit of Rum shows up and decides the unknown man would be his bodyguard on a dangerous mission. Not only will Wencit say whom this person is but neither will the god Tomanak. So embarks a adventure for the final conflict for Bazhel, Wencit and a man with no past.

All in all not a bad book not as humorous as the first few books

Hm. I do intend to read this one eventually, but... uh...

Remind me again how his wife is alive after seventy years? Isn't she... more or less a normal human?

A pair of rings given as wedding presents from Tomanak linking them together.

Yeah, that question is answered quite clearly.
"This is supposed to be a happy occasion... Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who."
-- The King of Swamp Castle, Monty Python and the Holy Grail

"Nothing of consequence happened today. " -- Diary of King George III, July 4, 1776

"This is not bad; this is a conspiracy to remove happiness from existence. It seeks to wrap its hedgehog hand around the still beating heart of the personification of good and squeeze until it is stilled."
-- Chuck Sonnenburg on Voyager's "Elogium"

See, I had simply forgotten the answer to the question- I've found most Weber written in the past five to ten years to be rather forgettable so the details blur.

The first three novels can be read online at Baen Free Library.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.
