Wakfu

Wakfu is a professionally done flash fantasy cartoon from France. It's set in the Krosmoz, a universe of multiple dimensions shaped like a dragon egg (a dragon egg is called a "dofus"), and more specifically the World of Twelve, where the Twelve Gods Iop, Sadida, Eniripsa, Osamodas, Enutrof, Ecaflip, Sram, Xelor, Cra, Sacrieur, Pandawa and Feca reside and are worshipped by human followers who, as their devotion increase, become more and more like their chosen god. And they all have different specialties. Cras (the common name for the followers of a god is the name of the god) shoot arrows, iops charge in head-first, sadidas are druids, etc.

Now, I said the gods reside in the world of Twelve, but that hasn't been totally the case since the Chaos of Ogrest, where he assembled 6 dofuses of incredible power, the primordial dofuses, and became more powerful than the gods. However, he did this for love, but she broke his heart and tried to steal the dofuses. After killing her in a fit of rage, Ogrest took to the highest mountain to cry his heart out. He cried so much that this made the sea levels rise, and perturbed the geography and ecology of the World of Twelve.

187 years later, a special boy was born. Carried by a dragon, he was taken to the home of the good-hearted Alibert, an enutrof, to be raised. 13 years later, Yugo, the boy, started developping strange powers, and a new adventure began. Joined by the iop knight Tristepin de Percedal, the enutrof Ruel Schtroud, the cra Evangelyne and the sadida Amalia Sheram Sharm, Yugo will discover the secret of his origins and the nature of his true family.

So, what makes this series good? Well, it has absolutely gorgeous animation and art, it has archetypal yet realistic characters, good character growth, a fleshed out world, fanstastic fights (not as good as AtLA, but still very good) and probably the most memorable villain in Western animation. And that's just season 1. Well, okay, season 2 has more one-of episodes, and its villain is not as memorable, but it still has good character arcs, but perhaps a little too much interpersonal drama. I mean, it's fine, but it's not as good as season 1.

There's currently a kickstarter for an English dub. Among other things, it offers the two seasons (26x30 minutes), plus the Ogrest origins OAV and the villain origins OAV, both animated by Japanese studios (Ghibli and Bones, respectively), plus 26 shorts that flesh out the universe. If you don't like the dubs, they've included the original voices with English, Spanish and French subs. And we're 13K away from an additional 3 45-minutes OAVs (animated by Ankama) that take place after season 2 and should be broadcasted in France by this summer.

So, I'm an unrepentant fan of this great little series here and will mostly endorse what the OP says, in case that does any good.

It is not quite Avatar: The Last Airbender, but nevertheless watching it has been a very entertaining experience. If nothing else, the makers of the series have a very good eye for great fights:

SPOILERS FOR ONE OF THE MAIN FIGHTS OF SEASON 1.

where the Twelve Gods Iop, Sadida, Eniripsa, Osamodas, Enutrof, Ecaflip, Sram, Xelor, Cra, Sacrieur, Pandawa and Feca
Some of these gods have suspect names when spelled backwards, eg.
Sadida, Enutrof, Sram, Xelor.
TVWP: "Janeway says archly, "Sometimes it's the female of the species that initiates mating." Is the female of the species trying to initiate mating now? Janeway accepts Paris's apology and tells him she's putting him in for a commendation. The salamander sex was that good."

Yes, Ankama's approach to naming sucks and pretty much every god name is a bad pun.

Xelor is the god of time and patron of a group of time mages that also carry his name, Enutrof is the good of wealth and patron of treasure hunters everywhere.

Actually, that had been broken! We're 60.000$ away from new exclusive episode!

All in English! One time offer only - what you're waiting for?
