She doesn't have to dress like the other amazons, and I'd probably have the combination of red, white, and blue because I want something that looks familiar and is reminiscent of the iconic costume (but less silly). I wouldn't mind getting rid of the stars though.

I'd probably choose a red shirt, blue pants (or a skirt), and white boots, plus the arm bracelets. It would look familiar but less goofy and more practical.

I'm watching that review and it's hilarious.I don't always like TGWTG but damn. I love how they tried to squeeze some shit about objectification in when Wonder Woman deliberately designed her costume that way and then went around using it to seduce police officers. If only this had been played for the idiocy that it was it could have actually been pretty funny. As it is it's...pretty fucking funny anyway.

This is the absolute height of the sociopath lawbreaker . Vic Mackey in tights. Brilliant. God, I wish this had gotten a full run. someone should have taken it and run with it as a stealth parody. Have frequent guest appearances by FOX anchors. It'll more than justify for itself.
No, it's a bunch of nerds 'analyzing' a show so bad even the executives said fuck no. Easy targets don't get much easier I guess?
Isn't half the point of being a nerd getting the chance to rail at THE MOST TERRIBLE THING EVER!?

Yeah, I mean why would the Ambassador of the Amazons dress like them? That is just stupid. She should dress like the American flag.

And fuck familiar or traditional or reminiscent. Do what makes sense. They didn't make Keaton dress in a blue and grey costume because it looks fucking stupid in real life even to fucking crazy people like Tim Burton.

The only people who give a shit are hardcore nerds and they 1-Probably aren't that big a demographic and 2-Are going to see the movie anyway. You might as well get rid of anachronisms unless you can tie it into the story like Captain America.

It's hard to get rid of the the America in Captain America though. You fundamentally change the character and the movie might as well be called Lt. Shieldthrower. It becomes something else.

Wonder Woman though, she has nothing defining about her other than she is an Amazon and is super strong, can block bullets with her bracelets, has a magic lasso and an invisible plane. I guess to play DA to myself, it is her costume that is the only fundamental thing about her then. I mean, even DC can't figure her character out and they have been trying for for like 70 years.

Still though, the costume is fucking stupid and it always has been. At least the DCU made a decent attempt at explaining it, but I just don't think it goes over well live action to a non indoctrinated audience.

Batman's a good example of what I want. The costume strongly resembled the traditional Batman despite the differences.

And she would probably look like an Amazon at first, but why not adopt some local styles after arriving in America? I doubt she'd wear something that looks like the American flag, but red, white, and blue are common colours for clothing, so not blatantly like the American flag unless it has stars. Which is just as well for patriots, because I don't think its respectful to wrap the flag around your crotch.

The words you are looking for are 'fan service'. You can do the Wonder Woman fanservice pretty easily without the American costume (cf infinity magical girl anime shows). If you're trying to make a show with a broad audience about something that is very difficult to separate from fanservice and sexism, just be honest. Make it the 'hot fantasy woman beats up bad people' show. It will totally find an audience.

Or y'know make it the 'woman who is like tony stark and also like superman sort of acts like jack bauer' show and watch it die so fast it isn't even cancelled.

There are options other than violent pseudo-porno or an anti-hero that rips off other heros. Some have been referred to in this thread.

Sorry, I didnt get the 'ideas I dont like not welcome' memo. I'll pass it on so you dont have to confront these troubling other perspectives in future.

And can you get whinier? Heaps of shows are built on the idea of a sexy lady fighting the evil xyz. That you can only imagine this to be 'violent psuedo-porno' really just says sad things about you as a person, ESPECIALLYconsidering you're talking about fucking Wonder Woman.

You can mention whatever ideas you want, of course. But it annoys me that you seem to think such pathetic ideas are the only options for Wonder Woman.

Of course they could do a show that's just "...hot fantasy woman beats up bad people...". I'd just like to see something a little less shallow and cliche.

And if anyone's being whiny here its you.

The violent psudo-porno line was a jab at the apparent limits of your imagination, not an example of the limits of mine.

It would hardly need to be "just" that. An attractive actress and beating up bad people isn't exactly a stretch in a show about a female superhero. The key is make sure everything you do with the rest of the show doesn't screw it up, such as by letting the writer of Ally McBeal turn it into a fascist dystopia where a neurotic sociopath acts like a monster and is loved for it.

The admittedly stupid costume is about the only thing that's been consistent over Diana's tenure as a superheroine. You'll have a hard time getting people who care about Wonder Woman to begin with to accept major changes to it.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Those two ideas are all WW has ever been. Hate to break it to you.

But that is WW. Hell, she started the cliche in comics. If you start something is it cliche if you do it?

I don't know a great deal about Wonder Woman, but Majin Gojira mentioned a bunch of other stuff on the first page of this thread. And even if that's all it is, that doesn't mean that's all it ever can be. I'd like an adaptation of Wonder Woman written by someone with the balls and the intelligence to do something fucking innovative.

Perhaps cliche isn't a good way to describe it. What about shallow, generic and boring?
